Location is great for living. Tutoring in the area is also great for money (if you do it). I like the area very much but I don't know about the school. |

I knew some people that worked there a few years ago and they seemed generally pleased with the situation. Meaning: the job was a harmless hogwan stint that gave them enough space to teach privates and enough time and dough to hang out at the Hollywood Bar and Grill on weekends.
However, if you are serious about teaching, vacation or massive money, it's probably not your best bet. You can tell a place still has some major "we don't know a damn thing about education but we'll do anything to convince petty-bourgeois Apku mom that we'll get little Jin-Soo into SNU and Harvard some day" when the advert reads:
Option #1 9:30 a.m. ~ 3:00 p.m. for 3-6 year old students
and
Option #2 9:30 a.m. ~ 5:00 p.m. for 3-7 year olds
and
Qualification:
- Native English speaker with a North American accent.
- Have enthusiasm for teaching and living in a different culture
- Have a bachelor degree (4 years)
- Christian (preferred)
- Have experience as an EFL instructor (preferred)
- Majored in Early Childhood Education (preferred)
- Have experience in teaching American Textbooks (preferred)
- Have experience in teaching SSAT/SAT Verbal (preferred)
Oh, so Korean. Oh, so deluded.
P.S. Can you get a "bachelor" degree? And is a "married" degree considered a certificate of higher or lower standing? |
