I'm making a Monopoly board up for my English camp so we can play it but more Englishy (lots of questions to get the various propertys). So I wanna make a Korean board (unless one exsists already).

SO i need property names, so far I have:

Brown 1. Itaewon Smile
2.

Light Blue 1.
2.
3.

Pink 1.
2.
3.

Orange 1.
2.
3.

Red 1.
2.
3.

Yellow 1.
2.
3.

Green 1. Gwanghwamun
2. Yeuido
3. Icheon (cause of the museum)

Dark Blue 1. Gangnam
2. Apgujeong

I dont know a vast number of places in Seoul and less about Koreans views on their status. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Very Happy

Myeong-dong and Shi-chong (city hall) are pretty close together. They could be an upper scale area. Namdaemun market is also close but i don't know if it fits economically.

Maybe Namdaemun and Dongdaemun could be the two cheapest properties.

COEX and LotteWorld and Jamsil Sports Center are pretty close together, oh and Olympic Park too.

SeoulLand and EverLand?

GO TO IMMIGRATION!

Go directly to Immigration.
Do not pass "GO".
Do not collect your salary.

CHANCE
Take a trip on the KTX, and if you pass "GO" collect your salary.

CHANCE
Visa processing fee KRW100,000

About the properties, you've got to remember that some of the grungiest looking districts in Seoul command some steep prices. Sell three shabby stalls in Namdaemoon and buy a mansion in Beverly Hills. And Itaewon is hardly inexpensive. Sleazy and seedy, but nothing resembling "cheap" by Seoul standards. Gangnam is much too big to be a single property. Apkujeong is okay, I suppose. Dark blue should properly be: Heaven and Guru's Place.

I'd group Gwanghwamun, City Hall and Myeongdong together on Yellow. For the lower-rent colours, think Nowon-gu, Gangseo-gu, Geumcheon-gu, etc.

I think blue (i.e. Boardwalk) might be Chungnamdong and Apgujungdong, those two places being "Beverly Hills" of Seoul (including a Rodeo Street in Apgujungdong Smile And JungnoGuru is right, even the shadiest parts of Seoul can command steep prices.

I think for cheaper properties (yellow, purple, sky blue), you definitely want to stay in Gangbuk area - maybe Miari area.

Maybe Orange could be Youido.

Good Luck.

hmm....

Okay, I'll give you Nowon-gu for brown, but I want to see Guro-gu on sky-blue.

For Pink, (Burgundy?) how about Gangseo-gu?

Orange, maybe Mapo-gu.

Red.... Gangdong-gu?

Olympic Park (Songpa-gu) might do for Yellow.

For Green, you can have your concrete-blocky, government-project Apkujeong & Daeichi-dong. (some Beverly Hills! Rolling Eyes)

And Dark Blue? C'mon, it gotsta be Songbuk-dong and Guru's Place. Just gotsta.

It's a bother that each colour needs several property names.

Hey Guru,

I was going by property values when suggesting colors more than aesthetics Smile I couldn't agree with you more on the silliness of Apgu being BH of Seoul. I don't agree with it but that's what the property values reflect. Daichi is pretty up there too.

What about Songbuk? My husband says that individual houses there are the most expensive in Seoul - which means the most expensive in the whole of Korea?

Brown 1 Itaewon OK, but Brown 2 would certainly have to be Haebonchon. Actually I would reverse the order.

I'd heard about a Korean version years ago. I'd think it would have to be updated regularly given how districts change status here. I'm definitely buying it, though. Thanks for the info, SH.

When you do, please post what each of the colors is labelled. I'm really curious!

I've actually played the Korean version. It is same as the US one except everything is is in Korean as well as English and the kids know it as "Hotel King" game.
The idea of making a Korean version is great. I've got a UK version and find it hysterical as I'm from the other side of the pond. Cool
