I've heard back from one of the recruiters I applied for (Orange Education and Recruiting www.eduorange.com) and they've offered me a job at the Korea Herald Language School in Uijungbu City Kyunggi-Do which is apparently part of greater Seoul (Im having a bit of trouble finding it on any maps as I believe it is a new town).

They seem extremely keen and have already sent me the contract, which I may post in another topic and have organised an interview tomorrow with the school and are also apparently going to let me speak to the previous English teacher.

I figure I will see how it goes but am a bit uncertain about the location of the school ie. how far out of the city the joint actually is. The level of enthusiasm the recruiter seems to displaying and the way he seems to be treating the whole thing as an already certain deal is also slightly offputting. Maybe this is just a cultural thing I'm not quite used to.

Hey fellow Aussie. I'm here in Kyunggi and believe me it is not a new town! They are scared that you wont take the job, because you want to be in Seoul. So here's the low down on Kyunggi.

It's about a ten minute bus ride to Suwon which is a pretty big city - well i'm from the Sunshine Coast, so it's big to me!

You can jump on a bus to Sadang from Kyunggi (bout 10 minutes) and then the subway to Seoul. The hole trip takes about 30 - 40 minutes.

I haven't seen the school your talking about but then it's so bloody cold here that you just stick your head down and get where you want to go as quickly as possible.

As far as being an Aussie and getting work near Seoul, the accent's no drama but most of the jobs will say 'near' Seoul (sneaky), because that's where everyone wants to be - not sure why!

So if your happy with the contract, go for it and come and sus the place out and then when your contract is over you can try for Seoul. If your not happy apply for something from Dave's job board, Work'n'play, English Spectrum or Pusanweb.
