Several Koreans have assured me that I'll wake up on July 15 to find the clouds have disappeared and been replaced with an oppressive heat that will last until exactly September 1.

it is not raining at all in seoul (well, not that much). certainly nothing compared to a good fashioned english summer season!

I'm in Ulsan and it's been raining all day. Actually it was raining when I got to Korea (one of those decents where you [and the pilot] dont see the runway until a split second before one wheel touches down) and for two months, the most it's let up is a day or two. Stops raining around August 1st, then it's humid and hot for 6 weeks, then we can all relax.

Near Yeosu, and its been raining for the last 5 days. Stayed at home all weekend, read an entire book. At home I hated the rain, but here I actually enjoy it, as long as it keeps things a bit cooler for a while.

Seriously, it doesn't start cooling off until September? Uggg.

On the upside, I think I'm adapting to the humidity. Is that possible...

My dry cleaning place is a 'setak so' and a 'ppalae bang' so it does both dry cleaning and washing/drying--and it's a tiny hole-in-the-wall place. Note: they do it for you--it's not a self-service laundromat. I took my bed clothes there today because I wanted them washed and dried. Some places do have driers and I decided to spring for it because I wanted clean bedding. I've been washing my other clothes though as usual and leaving the fan on when I'm home. Everything has been drying, just taking a bit longer than usual.

It's still raining here in Ulsan and my jeans are still damp. Even if they ever dry, they smell weird and I have to wash them again. I've found a place that will wash and dry for peanuts so I'm gonna try that.

Those that have been around the block, is the summer a dry heat?

No ~ summer is mostly humid
