Hey, people have to always speak politely to their superiors and people who are older. What happens in the army? You have a fresh 22 year old second lieutenant out of military academy and a 45 year old Chief warrant officer (soldier, not an officer). Are they considered the same for how they talk to eachother, or does the older warrant office speak down to the Lieutenant or is it the other way around?

EDIT

I want to know about the language used Wink

I would never say 'Seoul e kayo' to my principal for example, I would say 'Seoul e kaseyo' (also, these are extremely simple examples, as I have only been studying 3 months, so don't get too technical please). Now, would both CWO and 2nd Lt. say 'kaseyo' to eachother, or would one be able to say 'kayo' to the other?

I don't know about the Korean army. I would assume the roles would be similar as our (ie: western armies). The Chief Warrent Officer (does korea have this rank? I don't know) would be much more experienced than the 2nd Lieutennant, and therefore would assume a superior role. Some of these long term Korean NCOs look pretty darn tough, and I couldn't imagine them taking any crap from such a junior officer.

I know in the CF an RSM, CWO, MWO or even Sgt. would have a lot to teach a 2nd Lt. A smart junior officer would do well to STFU and not throw his/her commission around in their presence.

I agree with everything you said, but I meant it linguistically, which I stupidly did not say in my first post Wink.
