Hi all,

I'm just about to join th F2 club, and I am wondering whether my resident's status will get the bank off my back as far as all that "proof of income" and passport-stamping hoopla goes, or do I still have to dance the foreign-monkey dance?

At least there's no more hagwon-monkey dancing for me! Cool

Edit: Thought I'd change the title just to make the thread more attractive to casual browsers.

56 views and no reply? Come on, team! Have no married people sent money out of the country? Help a whitey out.

Disclaimer: I have no proof to back up my assertation that Americans suck.

I send money easier( I guess) but then there wasn't a problem when I was an E2 visa person. So, the reason no one answered is because they may be the same as me.

Wow, jumped to 199 views in 6 hours!

Score one for sensationalist marketing.

Guess I'll have to just boogie on down to the bank and flash 'em my shiny new F2 and see what happens. Read it and weep, officious bank dudes!

Unless anyone has something useful to add?

Not much to add, really. My ARC has the F-2-1 on the back of it. KEB hasn't had any updates from me in a long time. I just keep doing the same thing whenever I have to send money. Show them one of the previous forms and say, "Same place, X amt." They rarely ever stamp the amt in the back of my passport. I've only showed them a contract once...I guess they assume I'm still making the same. I don't really see it as much of a hassle as the other poster said. I also don't think that having an F-2-1 gives the holder any different/better/worse type of treatment when it comes to most gen'l banking practices. Afterall, it's a marriage visa, not a permanent resident one...even with an F-5, you most likely would still be scrutinized a bit more than a Korean citizen. Not much many of us can do about it either.

Koreans have the same trouble. We have to give the bank an invoice for every wire transfer we make (over 10K per year). I just love the bank seeing my company's private documents...

Think the best thing to do, is go to a bank like not in the popular areas (EG Itaewon) where the lack of English just forces them to accept the forms and just send the money without them saying anything to you.

Thats what my co-workers did at a local branch of the KEB at Achasan. They couldnt speak english there and just took the previous x-fer forms and sent more money to the accounts and places listed there.

My co-worker nearly went livid when the KEB in itaewon wanted to stamp her passport. She told them in no uncertain terms what would happen to them if they touched her passport.

Haha that was funny, did feel sorry for the guy tho as he was just following orders.

Yeah, I still don't understand why some people are so adamantly opposed to having their passport stamped by the bank. Christ, there are stamps all over mine for visas, workplace add-ons, re-entry visas, whatever. Also, the thing's only good for five years(Cdn), so who cares? I don't.
