Hello everyone,

This has been done before...but I am curious how many of you go to the public baths or spas here in Korea.

Back when I first arrived, almost none of us westerners went. Then, by 2000 more seemed to be going there and now..it seems to be down again (in Busan anyway).

at any rate..here is the poll.

Love the Jim jil bangs. they're the bomb! I like the big one in Busan. It's just too bad that it's not 24/7.

I'm just not good at sitting in one place doing nothing Wink If I'm not at the gym or studying something, I like to walk around outside even if I have no purpose to. Or go to Seoul or something. (I'm not hyperactive or have any other disorder either)

Nope. Just like hairy, sweaty man balls in a jimjilbang, you'll just have to try to ignore it. Wink

Went once because I had no where else to shower.

I have no idea why straight men would want to hang around together in the all together.

I go almost every week when the weather is cool. I find it extremely relaxing. I try to find 'unpopular' moke-yoke-tangs so I have the pleasure of a giant tub all to myself. However, from time to time, I've had great conversations with strangers while sitting around naked.

I LOVE the saunas....I used to be a regular when I lived in Korea. Funny, because saunas are the one place where I didn't really get any stares(maybe except for the usual kiddy brats staring, but I always ignore kids). I don't understand why western females don't even try it once.....ajummas so busy scrubbing themselves red that they completely ignore you. Plus they are relaxed so they are very friendly to me. I feel ten times more uncomfortable walking dowtown then I do at the local sauna....it is my escape.

I can understand if maybe western men don't try...I heard that "stuff" gets checked out. But female saunas tend to be very harmless and the women generally ignore you. No korean woman has made me feel uncomfortable there.

Ladies, if you haven't already...give it a shot. It's a great way to pamper yourself....fabulous way to give your skin a great workout. So cheap for something that would cost so much back home. The first time you get naked is a little weird, but once you see how many really imperfect bodies there are in there....it won't even phase you anymore.

Love them, very good refreshing recreation. Naked bodies are only sexual if you sexualise them. The jimjilbang is a very relaxed, straightorward, non sexual environment. I find westerners to be quite hysterical about being naked around strangers even of the same sex. This is one way that Koreans are more sophisticated than westerners.

When I am really pissed at Korea, I go there to spread my searing case of athletes foot.

It is just one of the many little things I do to get even for being screwed by Koreans from time to time. Laughing

I always get strange looks when I am walking over every tile in the shower section for no apparent reason.

Where did you say you go, Harpeau?

got dragged there once long time ago from a korean man,.., of course I knew this was the perfect chance for him to check out my unit..
I finally said ok.. I have never been and always considered it to be gay. so I thought I might as well try it once.. went in didnt like it..
didnt see the point of taking a bath or showing in a place in public! and I still dont see the point! showers at home work so much better than there!
you dont get any cleaner being in their.. not to mention.. sitting in bath water where half the village has pissed and spit , and farted in the watered!

ive been in total 3 times, DRAGGED!! by korean male friends!
and I will never go back..
its hard enough being white walking into a restaurant!
last thing I need is korean men staring at me becuase im white and naked!
then having to deal with blow drying their units in the locker rooms!
the gym is more than I can handle!
