My students want to do another lesson involving making food. We made sandwiches last year and that went well so I want to do something similar that isn't too much hassle. We don't have many facilities, there's a couple of gas rings (no oven). Some of the older children said they would like to make spaghetti bolognaise, it's a possibility but will be very messy no doubt. I like the idea of something sweet because at least then I know that everybody will like it. My boss also said its easier if the kids all bring one ingredient each (rather than her having to collect money and then go to the supermarket I guess) so it can't include anything thats hard to find. Any ideas would greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Rice crispie cakes are super easy.

We have no hob so we made coconut ice with condensed milk and chocolate truffles

Truffles didnt work (wrong cream) so I turned it into fondue Smile

Next week we make fudge and Rocky road (melt chocolate and pour over popcorn, marshmellows, nuts, glace cherries).

Banana boats are great...bag of marshmellows and a couple of Hershey chocolate bars and a microwave.

A stir fry worked with my elementary class as well...one student brought an onion, another a carrot, another a green pepper, they all brought some rice from home and a little bit of pork...I supplied all the spices and seasonings...big hit.

Teach em' something that'll make them popular with good ol' dad. Show them how to make a mean vodka martini or pina colada. Hell I'd pay to be in that class just to see the reactions of the parents!
Seriously though....what about something they've never had like chili? I've got a seriously wicked recipe and it'll keep them busy for like 3 hours!
