Where did your family stay when they visited you in Korea? There are loads of love motels around my house but no hotels. |

My apartment.
I bought a floor bed for me, or what ever they're called. A little expensive but very comfortable and useful. Mother slept in my bed. |

I guess you can do what you like, but I put my mother and sis up in our place when they came for our wedding. They took our larger bed in our bedroom while we took the smaller bed in the spare room. Love motels may not be too bad, but you might want to think of looking for a nicer(pricier) place if they're really conservative. Get them a map of the subway, or the appropriate bus number, or directions to and from your place on a card that they can give a cabbie, and let them explore a little on their own...that's what I did anyway because I was working most of the week they were here. |

We put them in a love hotel and told them just to watch out for hte porn on TV. Dad was fine with it, and mom got over it. Plus it was a really nice one for 30,000. And tehre was nothing else close to our place. |

Mine want to come out in May and I'm already dreading it. I think it will be the W30,000 love hotel for them, too. What to feed them will be a bigger challenge. They can't eat spicy food, can't eat with chopsticks, and my dad hates seafood. I guess I'll give them a package of plastic forks and teach them 'bulgogi juseyo'. If they want to stay more than week hopefully I can find a tour to put them on and not have to worry about it. |

I talked to my landlord and rented a vacant apt for two weeks. It was just sitting there empty anyway, cost to me 100k per week. He even brought in a air mattress, bedding, and some dishes, filled the oil, and everything.

Put my folks in what I thought was a "normal" hotel by cheongyangni station. Upon arriving, my mum was quick to point out that there was no closet space, and a quick inspection of the bathroom showed up a heart-shaped bath...The next day, my dad took me to one side and asked if the what the big, brightly lit windows down the street were for...
Having said that, the place was nice, and my parents were more amused than anything. |

My parents and sister stayed in a great place at the top of Insadong street near Anguk subway st. Its a traditional Korean building with mini courtyard and kind of papery walls, but inside its got all modern stuff. The place called Anguk House. About 70k a night for 3 of them. The guy who runs it was cool, spoke good english and gave them advice on day trips etc. Check it out here

in seoul, the best western isn't so bad - it's only around 90~100,000 per night. it's located behind city hall. my folks stayed at the westin chosun and really enjoyed it - free breakfast and a free cell phone with the room. the free cell phone was obviously very useful. the chosun isn't terribly expensive either and definitely worth the money. |

I have been having the same dilemma. My Mom is coming with my niece who is 13 and the only places I have ever really stayed are love motels.
I'm thinking it might not be good for a 13 year old to stay in a love motel, not that I have ever witnessed anything besides a porn channel. |

That's very unkind to the proprietors. They are used to charging the same rate several times in a single night, and you expect them to be happy when someone actually SLEEPS in the room? |
