There was some Korean university that offered this program for foreign students, they even offered to pay for your plane ticket. In return the student (me) would have to teach interested Korean students english and about adopted homeland's culture.
I received an answer in another message board. But that message board crashed shortly after I received my answer. So I don't remember the name of this university.
I know they have it, because I saw the ad twice (once about a few years ago and the second time in the other message board).
thanks. |

IMHO it's unlikely that you will find a free Korean language course at any university. However, if you did get lucky, you would still have to pay for your own accommodation, food and other living expenses. You would have to budget for those expenses.
On the subject of accommodation I suggest that you stay well away from any offers of free board and lodgings in exchange for English language instruction. In 99% of such arrangements the westerner finds that his life is no longer his or her own. You would be 'on call' all the time.
This is especially a problem for western women. Western 'morals' being rather different to Korean morals they often find their social life being restricted by their adopted Korean family.
Sorry to be so negative but I believe you should examine the costs very closely as they may outweigh the benefits. |

Billybrobby's right, if you can't afford to come over here on your own dime to study Korean, and you were willing to teach English to pay to learn it anyway, just get a job teaching at a hogwon that will give you a free plane ticket and apartment. Make sure you have a reasonable schedule (i.e. block shifts) so you can actually study and you'll be fine. |

Yes, you can study Korean for free (that is, no payment) at Soonchunhyang University. If you want more information about the program, PM me and I'll fill you in. It's a great program for those wishing to learn Korean and more about Korean and Asian culture, but you ARE a student and not a teacher. |
