When I started the job about 10 months ago I was told that to do my job I should love the children.

Unfortunately I don't love the children because they are not my own. I do respect them and I treat them accordingly. I tend to follow the golden rule.

My kindy has been on a 6 month rampage of open classes, theme classes, festivals and other really monotonous dog and pony shows.

These presentations are extremely boring for me and the children, but at least I put in the effort into making the children understand the useless drivel they are forced to learn.

My Korean counterparts don't. They complain the children talk to slow, yet they have excellent pronunciation. The Korean teachers on the other hand have horrible habits when it comes to pronunciation. I can barely understand half the stuff they teach the kids.

Any way during my practices for this said festival I observed some really disturbing behaviour from Korean teachers. The Korean teachers hit, kick, punch and push these 4-7 year old children. I find this very distasteful and unprofessional and I just can't confront the Korean about this sick practice.

I really feel bad for these kids. I also understand that scolding a child for bad behaviour is acceptable but I am disgusted by the physical abuse the children receive for not raising their hands high enough, or smiling enough for a silly presentation. That makes all the children act like little drones so the parents can have 2 minutes of pride.

This lead me to the conclusion, NEVER send your child to a Korean kindergarten with out at least siting through a normal day of teaching.

So, according to your post you would support pouring hot water on a child for bad behaviour?

Seriously though, I completely agree with you. No child should have to put up with physical abuse. My heart went one of my students who came in with a black eye one day. I asked her what happened and she told me matter-of-factly that her mother had hit her. What do you do about it in a society that doesn't seem to protect children who are abused?

I also agree that the dog and pony shows in hogwans are a completely useless exercise. When we had open classes at our school, I tried making the argument that the parents should see the class as it would have been had they not been there. My director would hear nothing of it. What is the point? Don't the parents realize the open classes are a sham?

Seriously using boiling water for noodles is ok. Use boiling oil on the kids instead. Once you scald them you can set them ablaze and roast hot dogs over their flaming little bodies.
