Apparently there's a whole district for dogs. My parents tried to find it and didn't get close.

I saw it in my Lonely Planet guide and always wondered what it was like.

There's a dog cafe in Hongdae called "Bau Haus"
(get it? bow? wow-wow?er...)

It's right across from the Buy The Way that's by the gazebo and the pay toilet (near the dance club street)... I think it's on the 2nd or 3rd floor. I've never been there; tried once, but it wasn't open (I went at about 11:30 AM).

I've been meaning to take my dog over there for some time now, but it's kinda far to lug the beast on the subway. If you check it out, let us know what it's like!

I cannot even begin to imagine what the purpose of a dog cafe would be.

Unless it would be a chance for my little guy--

I thought the exact same.

Actually I didn't. I assumed they were talking about dogs in the they're delicious way rather than the Man's best friend way. I mean come on...a dog cafe in Korea? Barmy.

been to the pet cafe in Bundang.

its actually not a bad idea. people just hangin out with other pet owners and is also good place for dogs to social interact with each other.

ive even see people hold birthday parties for their pets at these places.

unfortunately, the cafe closed down. rent was too high in Bundang for the kind of space they needed.

Ha - don't follow the directions given in the lonely planet seoul book. It doesn't exist there anymore. A friend of mine went on a huge search to find it - all she found was a pet food bakery...

That's awful... Hope everything turns out OK for her.

I don't really know either, actually, as I haven't been there... I'm guessing it's a place where people are more tolerant of animals being inside? (Of course, not tolerating animals inside is a proper health standards practice and what I would usually deem appropriate)... I'm interested just for the sake of socializing my dog with others more, as there aren't many chances on the teeming streets of Anyang, and maybe finding/talking to other owners- especially of the breed I have, as it's not that popular here.

(Ah! Obligatory dog picture... Here's Jjong~)

Maybe Three Dog Bakery? Which I was very surprised to find in Korea, the only other one I know of being in Toronto.

Re: pet cafes, this summer there was one in apgujeong. It was on a back road between apgujeong station and the rodeo shopping area. If you go out exit 2, head straight and take the first back street on your left, it's between there and the next major street. Or I should say, it was there, whether it still is I don't know. I can't remember what the name is but it has pictures of dogs on the outside. It's on the right.
