If I would like to have a uni gig in the next year or two, would it be a waste of time to enter into a non-teaching contract creating ESL materials? Although it is still a position in the education field, I think that it might not carry as much weight because there is no direct teaching involved. I could take a not-so-attractive public school position instead, but I would prefer not to take it unless it is really going to be much better in terms of helping me get a uni gig.

*Just to give a little history, I have done a one year contract at a hagwon. I am working towards a distance MA, which I should complete in the next two years, and I would also like to get a CELTA or TEFL in the next year or two as well.
