Hello everyone,

I hope some of you who've been through this or some long-timers can help me out.
I've been at this hagwon for the past couple of months and all's been well so far.
My director informed me this week that he's rented the school for two years to this new (inexperienced) director because he has decided to leave for England in order to study English. The new director will take over February 1st..(new director's hanging around the school for the time being, and so far she seems pretty nice)
Considering my employer will change, I believe this means I'd have to change my visa since I will no longer be working for HIM..
Today he told me that he's contacted foreign affairs and will fix everything around mid-february...but wouldn't that mean I would be working illegally for the first two weeks of February??..
I also told him I would like to sit down with the new director to sign a new contract since the one with him will no longer be valid...to which he agreed no problem telling me that the conditions remain the same including severance pay after the end of one year (starting date being the one I signed with him of course) and I get to keep the same apt I'm in now (which I absolutely love)...so the contract's not a pb..(well when i sign it with the new director at least)
I'm wondering however as to the full procedures to follow when this happens...
The location's the same, they're only renting (not buying), name of school might change, employer's changing...so what's the deal...do I have to do a visa run?..should everything be done before february?..and what is everything anyway?
any (quick!) input/info would be sooo greatly appreciated

You are contracted to the location and name of the school, not the actual person. You shouldn't have to worry about anything in terms of your visa as a result of the changeover. Though, it might be a good idea to sign an adendum to your contract stating that the new director will honor the present contract that you have with your old one. I could see you having problems at the end of your stint if you didn't get something signed. By this, I don't mean that you should make a whole new contract, just an understanding of agreement contract.

thank you jazblanc for the useful info...
so from what I understand I don't need to do anything...but the new director is "thinking" of changing the name...if she does then how would it affect my position?

I don't see how change of the business name would affect you at all.
