So, today I had to go down to Immigration with my vice-director to give my identification stats. I'm all above board and legit, with one small hitch - the school I graduated from in 1992 CLOSED DOWN in 1996.

Do I have anything to worry about? I might add that I have been working here 10 months already, got my proper visa etc., my school wants me to renew for another year, and when I was at the office today they were quite helpful letting me know about how I work getting a multiple-entry visa when I go back to Canada for a visit.

What with all the foreigners being "cracked down" on, I am a little nervouse because the school I got my BA at is no longer in existence. Am I just being a worry-wart? Has anyone else had a situation like this one?

Your university closed down like a Burger King or a K-Mart? What kind of university closes down?

Well, I guess it must happen to some of the smaller private universities, perhaps even some reputable ones. If my university ever closed down I would have much larger problems. (Like nuclear war or alien invasion...) In fact, it has only closed for one day in the last 30-some years. September 11th.

Wow, I get why you're nervous. Maybe you can call your consulate, and make sure that someone there can verify that the university did exist/ was real etc?

What accrediation ("groups" it belonged to ie Pacific Northwest Association of Universities...) did your school have at the time of your graduation?

That's the MOST important thing.

The school was regionally accredited through the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

It's a college (Heald Business College) with several outlets still in existence, it's just that the location in Oakland (where I got my degree) is closed down now. I guess my information should still be available through the general college administration.

Panic mode off.
