I'm looking into starting an MA or M.Ed. in Tesl or Applied Linguistics. Since I'm Canadian, I'd like to find a Canadian Uni. that offers a distance/correspondance program. Any ideas?
I've checked a ton of web-sites but either I just can't find the programs, or they don't exist . . .
(If you could spare me the Canadian jokes/insults, I'd appreciate it.) |

The University of Calgary department of education has one Master's degree (M.Ed.) program for teachers via distance delivery format.
http://www.educ.ucalgary.ca/gder/distance/index.html
It's about teaching in general, as it's for teachers and others in the school system. But it seems like a great segue for those who wish to study the principles of teaching now and get a graduate degree from a reputable bricks-and-mortar university. |

The Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto (http://www.oise.utoronto.ca/professional.html ) has excellent master's programs.
Concordia U in Montreal (http://www.concordia.ca/ ) is also excellent.
McGill U in Montreal (http://www.coursecalendar.mcgill.ca/gradgi2005-06/Frameset.html ) is also excellent.
If you think you want to make a career out of ESL/Applied Linguistics/Education/Curriculum, these schools have very good professors.
And of course, the previous posts, Calgary and Lethbridge have very good people there too. |
