Dang! We're being invaded by newbies!

They even have their own little "welcome to Dave's let's all be friends" kinda thread going on. Bloody annoying, isn't it! What happened to all the hostility, bitterness, sarcasm, and name calling that we are used to? Things were just getting interesting and now we're going have to deal with a whole new wave of "Korean women are so hot" "how much are gyms" "I hate Canada" "koreans are all dumb( Rolling Eyes )" etc. kinda threads.

I feel like I'm back in my last year of uni and all the freshmen have just arrived and are having their love-ins. Can't wait to see this fresh batch spoil and become bitter ex-pats like so many other posters on this board.

Wink

Just to say people like asianmind give us newbies a bad rap. Most of us look at FAQ's before asking questions and well then theres the lazy noobs who would just rather bother all of you experienced folk.

I've been lurking this place for over a year, and in Korea for 8 months so you don't have to worry about me asking things that have been asked a trillion times... that's what the "search" is for. *sigh*

Newbies are welcome.

It is normal to ask questions...just as long as they make sense.

This place can be useful for newbies and thats a good thing.

as a very new newbie i have to point out that the intense rants and dislike of my ilk is not only informative as it proves the world is not a bed of roses but also entertaining in a simon cowell sort of way. take it with a pinch of salt.

I am no computer genius, but it was my understanding that " Wink " meant, I'm just funning, taking a piss, busting your balls, etc. etc.

Lighten up folks. If you can't take the piss out of newbies, who then can we make fun of? Rolling Eyes

Who here isn't a newbie? I think 90% of us only come for a single year (or less) and then move on or go home... so I'd say we're pretty much all newbies from a certain point of view.

I am happy to be welcomed (I think this is the second thread welcoming, in its own ham-handed way, all the newbies to Korea and to Daves). Now, can anyone tell me why there are so many barber-shops in Korea? Wink

I'd say if you look at the actual teaching population, then by far the majority are short termers here for one year. But Daves is a bit different. I don't it is a reprasentatvie cross section of the teaching population. And it makes sense, if you're here for a longer time, Daves would become more important as a way of connection with the expat community.

This board is for newbies and "oldbies" (???) alike. Most of the oldbies have been here for 5+ years and don't mind helping out the new folk...but we DO get a little testy sometimes when things that have brought up again...and again...and AGAIN are posted.

Please, PLEASE!!! If you're a newbie or a lurker, use the search function (yeah, I know it's not the best!) and read ALL of the FAQ's BEFORE asking a question. You're much less likely to get flamed!
