(i'm REALly, unfortunately, beginning to like) George Clooney
(thanks in part to "Oh Brother" and "Welcome to Collinwood" )...i can't put him on the full roster because of batman and robin and spy kids ((BEEP) spy kiddsss?????? The guy is rolling in cash, why does he need to make THAT movie?) |
Agree! The guy gets panned a bit like Brad Pitt for being a pretty boy and some dubious role choices. But "Oh Brother" was a rollicking riotous affair with shades of vaudeville, lots of color and life, and Clooney was bang on in that. |

Speaking of Jaws, if you wanted to broaden the scope of this thread to deal with top film scorers, you'd certainly have to place John Williams near the top. Also John Barry and Danny Elfman. |
Ennio Morricone.

Indeed.
Williams, Barry, and Elfman are all good. But not as good as Morricone. |
Agree to them all, and I give you...Angelo Badalamenti who's Twin Peaks soundtrack has got to be one of the most appropriate and evocative peices of music for either tv or film. And Hans Zimmer, who is a hollywood scoring giant with over 130 movies to his credit. |

| Many of the more famous Hollywood actors are over-rated. I'm rarely disapointed by actors like Al Pacino and Robert Downey Jr., but I can't say as much for many of the supposedly talented ones. |

Anyone heralding the illustrious talents of Robert Downy Jr. and Val Kilmer might want to check out Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang, which is supposedly killer.
PS - Has Don Cheadle been mentioned yet? If not, for shame.

Funny post, "beavis"... Of course, most forum members should know that's Don Rickles, who's had a great career and also was the voice of Mr. Potato Head in Toy Story 1 (and 2...)

Another very successful actor who hasn't been mentioned and whose ability is probably underated is Michael Douglas. His resume includes memorable roles in Wall Street, Romancing the Stone, Fatal Attraction, Basic Instinct, Traffic, War of the Roses, and - one of my favorites - Falling Down.

I agree... Bill Murray as Steve Zissou in The Life Aquatic, awesome. |
