I voted yes, but then changed my mind. Most movies are illegal to download. It is however perfectly legal to download a non copyrighted movie. It's all about royalty payments, intellectual property and such, if the making of the film or whatever is on a commercial basis then you're effectively stealing it if you watch it and don't pay the artists involved.
I download stuff and I know it's illegal. The main things I download are British comedy shows. Bittorrent and discovery channel keep me sane when it comes to TV watching. The vast majority of my TV-film viewing is downloaded and unavailable here, I'm justifying it but I couldn't get this stuff even if I paid and or waited ages for the DVD to come out.
If you want to watch a really funny show then check out 'Little Britain' it is a work of genius. I have my wonderful fast internet connection to thank for the fact that I can watch that show.
Your film is obviously not illegal if you're worried about people getting in trouble for watching it! It's not that bad that it is 'criminal, though it could do with a re-edit and a better/more appropriate soundtrack. |

Well DUH downloading music is illegal. I don't download many movies. I'd much much rather pay cash money and see them in the theater or rent the DVD and watch it with my snuggle bunny. However, you're SOL for many, many movies in Korea. Hence, I have no moral qualms about downloading movies and TV shows I'd normally pay to actually see. If the movie industry was concerned about getting the money of expats in East Asia, they'd be showing the movies in Korea. |

I guess I should have included music. I have heard from some of my friends that it's ok to copy music and like Elric said it's ok to burn them? I was just in Seoul a few weekends ago and saw the electronics section of Seoul....I can't remember the name. Anyway, I could find movies that weren't even released in America yet. Right on the street...Crazy.
I bought one, and it was a hilarious pirated version. People walking through the movie, the video being covered then at the end the movie was cut off early.
I'm surprised there isn't a bigger crack down on this. |

If one uses KT as their ISP, one can watch movies free on thier "megazone" site. It uses DRM...the movies are tough to actually save, but one can watch them free.
A limited and somewhat dated selection, but it's a nice free bonus to using KT.

Or rather, what country you live in.
Here in Canada, it is legal to download music for personal use.
Uploading is another story. |

Don't forget music. I know all my kids have mp3 players filled with unpaid for music. |

It's interesting because it is changing the dynamic of the whole industry. It is an interesting trend to watch.
I always find it quite humorous when I see the adds by Hollywood on stealing. It's not ok to steal movies and music, but it's ok for movie to portray rape, violence, hatred, adultery and pornography. |

if you ask me! downloading films is not illegal.. its illegal to copy it and upload it to the interent! but to download it.. NAA its already there for the world to see! its illegal for the guy who put it there.. not for me to grab it
