I lived in Kawasaki (just outside Tokyo) for 10 years. Japan is the most racist, horrifying hell hole on earth. Think I'm exaggerating? Shintaro Ishihara, the governor of Tokyo and consistently re elected with a landslide, refers to Chinese people as "dogs" and has said that foreignors should be put in "camps" in the event of a national emergency. Look up his website if you don't believe me.
Seriously, when people on Daves complain about Korea I giggle.

Haven't been to Japan....but a few months ago I had a serious debate over whether to go back to Korea or head to Japan for round #2 in the ESL world.

My decision: back to Korea, basically because of the money saving potential. I am thrifty and pretty sure I could save money in Japan, but it just seems easier in Korea and I can travel, eat out, etc and not have to stress. Korea has a lot going for it, if you can find a decent job.

if you feel like paying for your airfare and setting up an apartment in tokyo and paying for it yourself: go to japan. if you want free airfare, apartment and more expendable income: go to korea. by the way, the nightlife in Seoul doesn't suck and it's a lot easier on the wallet.

I worked in Japan for a year and have been in Korea now for about 4 months. I would say if you are looking for money, a more laid back experience, cheaper cost of living than you should definitely come to Korea. If you want to see some of the craziest shit on Earth, head to Japan. Whatever you do, do not work for NOVA in Japan, I wanted to firebomb it after two weeks.

Tokyo is a city where you must know the native language to survive. In Seoul you can get by with speaking English slowly.

It seems the number one accessory for Japanese girls is a white husband and a baby carriage to push around their half-white baby.

Anyone who's in Seoul and doesn't know rudimentary Korean is a masochist.

I know people who speak not a lick of Korean and have been living very happily in Seoul for years.

btwy, i did a search on this site, but couldn't find anything.what's up with the people arrested last october in seoul? if you don't have a degree they can arrest you? or they didn't have sufficient work experience either?

If you teach without a degree you can get arrested and be in deep doo doo.

As far as women go, Korea has beautiful girls. I guess Japanese girls are a lot more open to foreigners and the atmosphere there regarding mixed relationships is much better but its still not that difficult here in Korea, especially Seoul.

They weren't arresting people, just getting rid of the 'undesirables'.
Canadians got rounded up and deported, Americans were'disappeared'. Now it's just nondescript whiteys livin in Seoul.

Play that f**kin' monkeydance whiteboy. Play that f**ckin' monkeydance right!

Word!
