Yes, it has heavy cultural bias. Possibly an indicator of verbal/linguistic aptitudes. Most intelligence tests test multiple domains - mathematical/logical, and spatial being (along with v/l) the most commonly tested.

Even the concept of IQ is culturally laden. The idea of a fixed, measurable domain-general indice to describe intelligence is peculiarly Western - and then only reflective of a certain element of Western culture.

I did an intelligence test once, where I questioned the examiner how I was to determine which of the four fruits given was most unlike the other, when there were multiple distinguishing variables I could identify them by: e.g. taste, colour, repropoductive features, skin texture and so on and so forth. I wasn't given any answer. Needless to say it was one of the two questions I got "wrong" in the test.

They qualify it by saying its culturally unbiased, and that its a lot harder.
Plus they're more careful with the word "genius".

I went from a genius in the first one, to intelligent in the second.
If there's a third, I'll probably be mildly slow.

The tests in no way prove you're a genius. I'm not a genius by any stretch and I got most of the answers. Tip: the longer you spend on a question, the more likely you will get the right answer. This is a serious time-waster. The second test is almost as culturally laden as the first one. Question 24: WTF?

I agree with Patchy...some of them sound completely off the cuff, too.
eg.#16 - (17 is a prime number)...so what...so is 1,2,3,5...why17?
At that point my mind gets a little bent wondering if some of the other questions are just as arbitrary.

Anyway...after a while it feels like guesswork...not genius.

That being said...I got little more than half of them...I could keep guessing...but like I said...not the point of the exercise.

*And is it just me or does anyone else think that these questions were just made up by some 13 year old kid browsing through some encyclopedia while studying for their 1st confirmation? (holy religious overtones batman)

I did it a few weeks ago. I had most of them after 5 minutes. I guess anyone can get most of them right if they want to waste hours on this. Besides, it's so biased in favor of christians and pirates.
