Okay, I know more than a few of you live in Seoul. I would be grateful if you could give me a few tips for visiting there (for Lunar New Year). I have two days, Saturday and Sunday. Anything I should see that I wouldn't know about unless YOU told me?
Thanks in advance. |

Its unfortunate that you must travel during New Years, as transportaion will be CRAMMED. However, most people will be leaving Seoul and you will be arriving, so you have that in your favor.
In my opinion, take the Seoul Subway to Chong-Ro Sam (3) Ga. Get out and walk along that street toward Chonggak. This street has a lot to offer in terms of big city activity. At the Chong-Ro E (2) Ga intersection, make a right and you will head into InsaDong. This street as a traditional feel- tea shops, souviners, art galleries- and New Years Day might be a good day for it (street performances, etc.). Getting back on the Chong-Ro road, make your way down to the Kwanghwamun Subway station. Here is the Kyobo Bookstore, though may be closed for New Years. Between here and where you started, you could spend a whole day, with many western restaurants along the way. Although, with it being New Years, can't really say what will be open. |

The only things that are guaranteed to be closed over the lunar new year are the department stores, and that's not really a big loss |

Thanks for the advice, HapKi. I'll probably do just that.
Actually, I booked my KTX tickets in advance (although I had to get them from a travel agency), so transportation is okay. |
