No, that's not related to my question. |

OK, I think I've already answered the question, but I'll try to be more succinct. The material universes function as a type of prison for the spiritual universes. Managed by demigods and maintained by Vishnu, sometimes they are manifest, and sometimes they are unmanifest - in an endless cycle of creations and annihilations (described elaborately in the Vedas...) The whole sum is greater than the innumerable separated parts-and-parcels, and when some of them exercised their free will in a manner not befitting the spiritual universes God saw the need of creating a place of suffering, repeated birth and death, and illusory happiness for foolish miscreants whose separatist ideas were not in sync with the supreme will...

My definition of "God" in the above post is "the predominant personal form of total existence (which includes both personal and impersonal features...) The innumerable living entities - separated parts-and-parcels that comprise the marginal energy of God - are predominated personal forms constitutionally under the control of either the material or spiritual nature... (Well, I hope that clears things up for all you happy - and unhappy - campers out there struggling to live forever - or die trying... ) |

Why is there something rather than nothing?
What would it mean for there to be nothing? If one were able observe a universe of nothing what would it look like? You could argue that you couldn't observe it by definition: there being nothing means there would be no place or no point from which to observe. Space itself would not exist. However, the common sense answer is that the universe would consist of empty space. |
NO, I didn't ask why there is matter and energy, I asked why there is existence at all. Of course I don't expect you to have the answer... but you've misinterpreted my question. |
God desired relationship. He wanted friendship. Not out of lonileness, but out of creativity. I think He wanted to share His love with more people.
Joe, why does there have to be something before God? |

Wouldn't that depend on your perspective? What is the point of the question, unless what you meant was something more along the line of how is there a universe. |
