You have your own eyes? Why can't you use them?
I would like to see a list of these countries that "support child prostitution". Please post it in this thread. |
I don't get your joke.
Any country that doesn't have harst penalties against sexual abuses should be blacklisted.
Canada is notorious for a country for child prostitution. It's laws of 14 and above for consent is a joke. The liberal governement has repeatedly moved against any changes in the constitution to increase the age of consent.
I don't know Thailand's laws, but I will start investigating it.
I don't know if you heard about the case of sexual abuse in Virginia. There is a movement against the state, to reduce the amount of travellers to the state. Punish it for it's immoral ways. |
Please back up that fact about Canada being one of the worst countries for child prostitution!
Also, the consent is among almost same age people too, so it isn't nearly as bad as you are saying (though I don't see why we don't put it up).
Also, the RCMP have been involved in almost all of the major worldwide crackdowns on child pornography.
Finally, Canada is the only country I know of that prosecutes child molesters (especially people going to Thailand) when they return to Canada, even though it is completely out of their jurisdiction. |

Richard, I have reported your post to the mods. It's inappropriate and it's a lie. You have only been on here for a week. How would you know unless you are someone else under a new name. If so...grow up!

I will try to find a more current resource, but this is what I found;
http://www.cwhn.ca/resources/sex_trade/
Here is a government fact site,
http://gvnet.com/childprostitution/Canada.htm
Yeah, the RCMP has done a good job, but it is the civial libertarian groups that are doing whatever that is in it's power to erode the strength of it's bite.
http://www.hri.ca/tribune/viewArticle.asp?ID=2420
Here's a quote,
In February 1998, Canada missed an opportunity to test its sex tourism legislation. A Canadian man who traveled for months in Africa collecting hundreds of child pornography photos and, according to his diaries seized by the police, sexually abused children as young as eight, was arrested at Vancouver airport. Vyes Banville received a very inadequate three hundred dollar fine and eighteen months probation for possession of child pornography. Although aware of the legislation on sex tourism, the police were unsure on how to proceed.
Fortunately, the awareness is increasing, but there are those who are against it becoming known.

5eagles...your statement about Canada being among the worst is racist and inflamatory.
It's inappropriate and it's a lie. You have only been on here for a few weeks.
Sound familiar?
The problem with Thailand and other Asian countries is simply the corruption of the courts and police and the poverty of its people.
What about the USA? There are still states where it is legal to marry your cousin at the age of 13! Jerry Lee Lewis did it and its still legal and on the American law books. Attacking a country like Canada and then posting a few items you gleaned off of the internet only makes you look like a reactionary. |

To answer the original question by the OP, the worst place I visited in Thailand was Khao San Road. It was a really depressing scence and if you base any part of your Thailand experience on that place, well then I can understand why you didn't think much of it. There's so many better areas of Bangkok.
However, I would recommend it to fiveeagles as a good place to start his crusade, seeing how it was spared the tsnami! Opps! I fed him again! |

I guess Grotto if you want to defend Canada's record on child prostition, then we will have to define what constitutes worse.
Is worse meaning the total amount of children in the market?
or on a percentage basis of population is it worse?
It is so difficult to measure because of it's hidden nature.
Anyway, Richard has a point...let's not hijack this thread. You want to start up another one or should I?
Richard, I have already been, but working with children. I had the chance to visit an orphanage house in Thailand called Agape House. They take the unwanted children of prostitutes and raise them. It's quite an amazing story. They claim that some of the children have been healed of AIDS because of God's love. |

Off topic again but I can't resist asking. Why only some of the children? Why not heal them all? |

The person who sees the greatest level of healings in her ministries is Heidi Baker. She sometimes sees whole hospitals cleaned out because of all the miracles, but then sometimes she doesn't see anyone healed. She says, she doesn't know.
Personally, I think it is because of this,
http://www.fireonthealtar.com/compilations/Tyler/Awake%20And%20Love%20-%20Tyler%20Johnson%20+.mp3
A lot of the church is still dead in sin. It has to awake from darkness and enter into the glory of God. Coming to South Korea has been very shocking because I had expected a powerful move of God. Sadly, what I have found is a lot of religion. There is a lot of good, sincere people trying hard, but without the glory of God...there is no point. It's useless.
11This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.

Dear fiveeagles,
Here's a thought experiment for you: "if you are "wrong" and the Government of Canada (one of the most enlightened states in the world) is "right" about this issue, list five reasons why age of consent at 14 might be a wise and prudent policy." (Imagine there is such a thing as being "right" or "wrong," just for the sake of this exercise).
Begin now:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5. |

No stray dogs yet but plenty of stray farangs, including a few koreans. Some of them could use a leash. Especially beered up poms who seem to think every thai woman in the street is a hooker. |
