...frames.
Sheesh, what'd ya think this post was gonna be about...
Ok, seriously - I need some fashion help from my fellow Big Bear posters. I'm 6'2-ish and around 240, with a defensive-end-type body (ie. barrel chest, thick arms/ trunkish legs, a 38 waist) that's not seen a gym since I saw my last high school basketball pep rally, but still is somewhat presentable.
Problem: I'm getting increasingly frustrated at the lack of quality (none of this Itaewon "Yo Homey, wazzaaap" FUBU crap for Eminem wannabes) casual clothing in my size.
Work clothes is no problem as Korea is probably one the better places in Asia to get a suit made (and if anyone is tempted to mention the Bangkok Special jobs by guys in turbans, please refrain as I've tried it 3 times with 3 different tailors and the results were abominable) at a good price.
Soooo...anyone know of a store where they sell good Big Bear casual clothes. Anything from jeans, T-shirts, polo shirts, slacks, etc?
I'm desperate. My last business trip to any Western country was a year ago and I'm seriously considering a Guam run just for friggin' shopping.
Shoes - I'm a 12, and if anyone needs to get a good pair of dress shoes made, my guy in Itaewon is awesome. (PM for details on the shoe guy as well as tailor cuz I don't have the cards on me now.) |

Got any GI friends? Your best bet for casual wear is always gonna be the PX. Unfortunately you need some connections to be able to use it. |

I, too, am a 38 waist and have had luck finding casual clothes at Wal-Mart (jeans, shoes size 11, underwear), at Namdaemun (shorts, "golf" shirts, t-shirts), at Dongdaemun (pants, both cotton khakis and cargo pants), and at Myeong-dong (some "Polo" shirts and others of that ilk).
I'm in Hwajeong and can't speak for all Wal-Marts, but check it out if it's near you. Namdaemun is just the usual hunting, but I had more luck in the Doota building at Dongdaemun than I did at the open air market. Myeong-dong is on line 4 between Chungmuro and Seoul Station and has a good selection of "Western" clothes in both stores and stalls. The knock-offs are cheap but the stores aren't. They had an ABC Shoe store that had a great selection of all shoe styles (again, don't know about 12). If you're craving Levis at a decent price, try the stores near Ewha Womens University on line 2. There are some used clothing stores there that can yield some good finds if you hunt long enough.
Anyway, good luck (and send me the name of your shoe guy if you get a chance!). |

Grandees (next to Munhak stadium) in Inchon SPECIALIZES in large size clothing. Their selection is small but they go up to huge sizes. And it's polyester with some t-shirts and jeans thrown in. |

Even at the PX, sizes can be a problem. I'm 6'3 and nearing 290. Do what I do, have your clothes custom made. Lots of tailors around; 3 pairs of trousers will run you around 125.000 Won. You get to pick the fabric and style. Same with shirts. Itaewon shops will give you a deal usually. Around 20.000 Won per shirt. |

"Guys with big..."
Hahahahaha! You know what's funny? Look at the relatively small number of responses on this thread (this one makes eight, I believe)compared to the amount of "views" - 436 at present time.
Ha! Sick, sick people .
What were people expecting from the thread title, eh? |

When I browsed the forum, the titles read:
Guys with big....
usergroups.
Mildly amusing. But I'm afraid I'm just researching and have nothing useful to add. |

I often retitle misleading thread titles, but decided to keep this one intact as a little experiment. Was interesting, eh? |
