See this link for info about those spams.

Also, for the mods, how much time do you spend doing this? Are you paid? Why did you decide to become a mod? How did you get the job? Do you guys work in shifts? Who has the 2 am shift?

We do it when we want/when we can. No we are not paid. (I wish!) We don't work in shifts but we are spread across the world and hemispheres (mods go global Very Happy ) ... and as we're not all in Korea, we pretty much have the timezone thing covered... so there's no real 2am shift.

Personally, I was asked to join the moderating team about a month ago and I was already spending a fair bit of time on this site, collecting a lot of information for myself. I thought, "why not?" as I see it just as an extension of my being a user on this board.

Edit: Sorry for the double up of info - The Lemon and I must have been posting at the same time!

BTW - Don't believe those identities for a second, they're not the same posters as here, just trolls out tonight putting on a performance for the traffic generated by their spams. I'm glad you thought they were suspicious looking!

Cool, good for you guys, there are worse ways to spend your time and as Oigirl said, we appreciate it. There was something kinda scary about that koreanesl board.

That the human race as a whole has a lot of weirdos: trolls, stalkers (my dad now has one) and those are just the annoying people, not the ones that hurt you.

I'm happy about getting rid of the spammers and appreciate the mods work, though a perfectly reasonable thread commenting on the situation disappeared without a trace from the general discussion forum.

I can appreciate and understand that reasoning, but why wasn't it simply locked instead?

edit: I just got a PM explaining the situation about why it disappeared from one of the mods which seemed quite reasonable.

Sorry, think that was me. I wanted to keep comments about the issue to here... apologies. Should have locked. Then again, at one point, all forums had comments...

Well, it wasn't me, but it's my understanding that there is no point in having two threads in different forums that are pretty much discussing the same thing. I think that is probably why it got the boot.

Yeah I must admit that it would be kinder to write a post by the mods stating:, "this subject is already being discussed on --- forum, kindly refer to that". Sometimes just the " THIS IS BLOCKED, MOVED, etc. seems a bit cold. Hey you could even copy something into " Word" that would be more polite. Just a suggestion... Smile

I thought that it was a civilian casualty in our little board war ... lots of rapid fire deleting going on!!!

Edit: Curly Q - can we be forgiven for a mishap under heavy troll fire? We do have std procedures we follow for when we delete (and why we delete) but we're human Very Happy

I don't think s/he is refering to tonight, just in general. I agree with CurlyQ here...

I'm happy here. An unmoderated board would be so tedious.

Why do people want to be so rude to strangers? I don't understand the thrill of it.

I prefer to behave on a board the way i would in real-life.

Lemon - I told you I wasn't catching the details tonight! Re-read that post of Curly's properly. Yes, you're right Curly Q. Sometimes the messages are a bit cold (and I won't go into reasons for that one Wink ) but yes, heads up on that... I actually got a PM the other day from a user who thanked me for saying please or thanks in a thread I locked Smile

Thanks Oi Girl! Wish you didn't have to notice... but there's often someone out to spoil the party.

Mosely, you seem very determined to ensure that the mods aren't launching a censorship crackdown on the board. So let me assure you, we were deleting the extremely vulgar and witless posts from a well known troll... the threads being posted were in regards to who is having anal sex with who or what, unflattering comments about a number of posters (not just the mods), personal threats, anit-canadian statements and various other bits and pieces. Should have logged on a bit earlier, eh?

I'm sure you'll forgive me for not posting the 300+ posts removed, as what would be the point of removing them???

I don't even know what anal sex is.

I was online at that time, all the posts being deleted had only a subject line. Very crass and vulgar. content was just 3-5 random letters. This was a 100% spam attack on the board.

The Mods did a good job.
