Hi ESL teachers,
Two weeks ago I made a call to ESL teachers to submit fictional short stories with a focus on the ESL teacher as an outsider/foreigner in another culture. Selected stories will be compiled into an e-book to be published in just under 4 months. The response has been good so far and I am still seeking more short stories.
Ive received stories set in many different countries such as China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Serbia and Saudi Arabia. While the stories are unified by having at least one character who is an ESL teacher in a predominantly non-English speaking culture, there has been a good variety of storylines.
Although, originally, I only asked for fictional stories, I have received some interesting non-fictional accounts of ESL teachers experiences. So, I am now also seeking non-fictional accounts of ESL teachers experiences in largely non-English speaking countries.
If you are looking for a good chance to shine as a writer, HERE IT IS! A collection of short stories from a number of writers, brought together in a single volume, has the potential to bring attention to new and emerging writers from ESL backgrounds, such as YOU.
- Stories can be any genre, fictional or non-fictional, humorous or serious, realistic or fanciful and they can be about positive or negative experiences.
- Length: between 1500 and 5000 words long.
- DUE DATE: FRIDAY 17TH FEBRUARY, 2006.
- Please do NOT send any attachments. Stories should be copied and pasted into the body of your email.
- The authors of all short-listed stories will be contacted with the final conditions and, if they are happy with those conditions, their stories will go into the final stage of selection prior to publication
James.
