Does anyone have any experience shipping "media" items, like textbooks, workbooks, book books, etc...? I want to import about 50 lbs of teaching materials from back home, but don't want to pay $300.00 to do it.

In the States we have the option of shipping these types of items domestically as "Media Mail" at a huge discount. Anyone know of something like that for International mailing?

No suggestions? Not even, "Why didn't you bring that stuff with you when you flew here?"

I remember hearing something about Korea having such a service, but what matters is if the US offers that kind of thing internationally

There is something like this available internationally. They're known as "M bags" Read the info here...

http://pe.usps.gov/text/pub51/pub51_008.html

It's basically a big burlap sack that you can stuff books into. Maximum weight is 66 pounds. The cost (for Korea) is $17.60 for the first 11 pounds and $1.60 for each additional pound. 50 pounds would cost $80. It's surface mail so it will take 4 to 8 weeks to arrive.

Sweet... I had my parents ship 60 lbs of books to me the other day.

Cost less than $45.

Thanks.
