gahhh.... I get it too... especially the Russian bit.
Anyways.
Staring with a pissed off look works sometimes.
Swearing works. What pretty little girl swears?! HAHA shock to them.
Calling them a "son of a b*tch" gets them (ke si ki). If they're acting like jerks to me, I could care less what impression they get of me by swearing at them. |

Roughly translated, I believe it means
YA!! = Hey! (more of a negative expression, not hey how ya doin')
Hajima = Stop that, don't do that etc..
Both good classroom phrases, but I wouldn't start YA'ing people at the bar. It's so easy to say, that it's easy to abuse.. |

| This is the funny thing. My Korean boyfriend told me I should wear jeans when I looked at a mini skirt for sale on the street. When I said many Korean girls wear them he said yeah but ou are an American woman...meaning I will be thought if as a "bad girl" by some people. when I first came to Korea a Canadian guy I worked with said to just go ahead and wear a mini skirt if I want people to think I am a tea girl...so it's a double standard...A Korean girl can wear anything and she is still a perfect example of purity. But if one of us whitey girls wears the same thing we are a *beep*... |
