so i forked over 100,000 for a new cyon lg-lp4300 and got a regular line instead of opting for the cheaper used card-phone route (this is my first cell phone in korea). seemed like a sweet deal.
i checked it out...mp3 player, cool, camera, cool, english menu, cool.
then i bought it and tried to dig into the features....it's all in korean!
and there seems to be no english online support as far as syncing the phone with my computer. even the manual has only five pages of english, and it doesn't cover anything like accessing photos and mp3s from the computer.
am i SOL? |

Go to the LG web-site and select the right d/l for your model. If nothing else, you should be able to sync it and get the pics out. I'm still not sure if they've sorted out the problem with licensing agreements for the MP3 feature.

I think if you have SKT as your carrier, you might have better luck than with LGT. Anyway, pick SKT, KTF, or LGT from the drop-down menu and d/l the PC-Sync software and give it a go. If you have your computer set up to read Korean sofware you should be okay(as long as you can read Korean). If not, play with it a bit; you'll figure it out. LG crap(I guess we're in Korea though). My next phone will either be a Motorola or Samsung, both of which I've had before and both of which have true(full) English capabilities. |

Was disappointed to find that my phone didn't load .mp3's directly in, or allow me to use them as rings. They often want to make a profit out of that capability. That, and the volume isn't enough to be enjoyed as an mp3 player. I think they didn't want to make it "too good" so you would still have to go out and buy a REAL mp3 player.
Mine has a removable card, though, and I bought a card reader to put .mp3s and download pics off of that (once I transfer them there). The rings still must be paid for. I had hoped to create my own. |

as for pics, it seems like i can just email them to myself, so at least i have THAT feature...
i tried the sync thang, but i cannot figure out which port i should be trying to assign it to...looks like i might need some korean help on the mp3, if its even possible. the program looks like, if its synced, i should be able to drag and drope mp3s from my computer to the phone, which would be really cool.. |

I gave up on the stupid thing...have the same 14 songs I put on it the first time successfully with the help from some software that worked that my brother-in-law helped me find actually from Pantec and Curitel(sp?)...strange. Most Koreans don't seem to complain about it...guess they know what they're doing(but my wife didn't and my brother-in-law had a rough time). I forget my model name, but it's only Korean...a former student had the exact same model and seemed to love it...although I don't really know why. Anyway, from what I recall, you have to keep installing the drivers, and then again, and again, and again. I just use it for a phone now. Oh, and I tried the E-mailing of a pic a few times and that didn't seem to work either...I think you have to have some special acct like naver or sth...good luck. However, a Korean might be able to help you out some. The thing that really frustrated me is that the company couldn't provide some simple program where you could u/l your own songs from your own CDs that you bought. I guess there's no way that I can verify that the songs I have were actually purchased though, right? I think I was also really disappointed that a big company like LG couldn't provide some half-decent software that worked on the first install. Oh well...never again. |
