I'm generally curious, what's the vodka attraction? I'm a whisky man myself, and while I sometimes venture into tequilla or rum territory, I've always thought vodka a little foul, close behind gin as the worst of the big spirits. Do you mix it? If so, with what?

PS - I did have some good times a long time ago with vodka and cranberry juice. Does that make me gay? Again, not a huge vodka fan, so I wouldn't know. Is that like putting sauce on a steak?

Oh god, gin is terrible.

I'm not crazy about hard liquor, but if I'm gonna drink anything it'll be vodka first, whiskey a distant second. The reason I prefer vodka is that it's not sweet. When I drink other liquors, they leave that nasty sticky-sweet film up on the top of my mouth where the throat begins. It makes me queazy, especially if I'm around smoke.

So, of course, when I drink vodka, I sip it off the rocks.

We had cranberry juice and vodka tonight. First time that I can remember drinking it that way. It's a dangerous drink for girls in the way that cherry soju doesn't taste like it has any soju in it. Made a pitcher of it, and we watched Batman Begins. Finished the pitcher before the movie. Still wondering where that half-bottle of Absolut went. Tasted like non-alcoholic punch.

Vodka is good with orange juice, cranberry juice,... Don't think it's good with soda unless it were a lemon and/or lime soda. Vodka and lemon is good. I think the lemon at the bar is some sort of special lemon juice. Can't remember. I was buying vodka and cranberries for the woman staff at a small bar I was going to. That can run pretty expensive though.

I don't really drink vodka that much. One time, in Taiwan, I drank a whole bottle at a bar and had a huge headache the next day. The next time I got a headache from drinking was from mixing soju and beer and drinking yet another bottle of vodka my co-teacher had on separate occasions.

Other than that, I never get headaches. I'm a whiskey man myself (rye whiskey) as far as hard alcohol goes.

I'm what you'd classify as a beer drinker and I'm in the wrong country for that unless you want to spend a ton on imported beer.

Yeah tell me about it. I just don't understand the lack of quality beer in Korea. When I visited Thailand, the grocery store had a huge supply of all my favorite beers at the same, or lower, price than in the US. And I'm like, what edge does Thailand have on the world market that they can get a wide variety of imported products at regular price? Garrr.

can't beat a gin and tonic...give me a mug and a straw and i'm good to go...

vodka is the second drink of choice...not girlied up, just with a chaser of
some sort

beer is just too much to drink to get drunk, (guess because i'm a girl and honestly can't chug it like a guy)but in and of itself, definitely not terrible (umm excluding all cheap korean beers with the exception of maybe a really cold capri)

don't hate soju either...and don't get hangovers from it

ditto...even the smell of something remotely whiskey-like will start the gag reflex...

You are indeed wrong.

No one has touched the vodka. In fact, this happened again (yeah, I bought more vodka), but the bottle froze before I'd even opened it.

Q- there is something wrong wth your supplier-frozen vodka isn't possible-unless you have a -100c freezer-your supplier s screwing you-can't you get it?

Where did you get that number? I did a bit of googling, and most sites claim that 80 proof vodka will freeze at around -27 degrees C. (100 proof freezes at around -40.)
Why keep it in the freezer in the first place?
i dont know why but keeping vodka in the freezer is just the done thing (we do it in nz) and if its real vodka then it should not freeze and how would it last a 1year!!!???

i think it needs to be reincarnated as vodka jellies!!!

Vodka + Orange Juice + Snowboarding = Very Sore

Just the thing to keep you warm on the mountain, gives you that little bit of confidence to go off something way bigger than you would otherwise...

I dislike/hate all hard liquor. The only way I drink any of them is mixed. Straight tequila, for example, is disgusting, but a well-made margarita is the best drink ever concocted. (The margarita, btw, was created in calfiornia, not Mexico.) I drink beer for reasons of economics, but prefer wine generally. Actually, the economics thing doesn't really worl given that I hate piss beer, i.e., typical beer. Wheat, micro brew, stout.... ah...

Qinella, looks like you may have your answer: great freezer and low proof? Maybe turn down your freezer to the next setting or buy better booze. Smile

Q,

From where did you buy the bottle? Maybe it's counterfeit.

Absolut has both 100 and 80 proof. Which one did you have that froze?
Great ad campaign. I've collected the ads for years.
