Contract says Monday thru Friday, and the boss wants you to work for 3 hours on Saturday? Well, the way I see it, you have two options:

A) Say no.

Boss wants a favor? Then ask what's in it for you. Not good enough for you to give up your Saturday morning or afternoon, then say no until your boss offers you something good enough. Or just say no.

It's called negotiating outside of the contract. And it's what your boss has to do for what he wants from you right now. Even if you have to remind him it's what he has to do.

B) Say yes.

Do you like your boss so much that you'll do whatever it takes to make him happy and help him and his business succeed?

Then say yes, and don't expect this to be the last time this kind of situation comes up.

And don't ever expect to get anything in return.

This is a widespread problem throughout South Korea. If your employer is not following the guidelines set forth in your contract, then Korean Labor Law practices have been violated. I am writing this based on the information you presented me with in this post. Stand your ground with your employer. Type up a letter explaining your case. Talk with your employer off to the side as soon as possible. Be nice, and don't loose your cool. Be prepared for your employer to use manipulation tacticts. If your employer becomes abusive, then walk out. As your walking out your employer's office, hand your employer your typed letter.

Are there any clauses in your contract which stated in a round about way, "the employer reserves the right to change employees schedule as dictated by the institutes needs?" If you signed the contract with that clause in it, then there's not nothing you can do.

Its not that big of an issue. I've completed my year and I'm just doing two more months to avoid the winter back home. Its not really a battle I wanna choose to fight. but I wanted to know for when I come back and sign up with a new school.

I don't mind comming into school to do a 10 minute presentation for the mothers...its the other 170 minutes i'll be there. I tried to say i'll come in a half hour before the moms come but then I got the " the other teachers (child care workers) come in an hour early and they work hard too so why are you complaining" speech.... Rolling Eyes ......
