For me it's Thai. My girlfriend and I went to Jamtien and flew into Bangkok on Thai. Well, checking in was smooth as silk, but as soon as we got on the plane the silky smooth service was gone.
The seats were small and very uncomfortable, and the entertaiment was crap. I mention the latter because on most airlines it has been standard for at least a year to have monitors on the seat backs and a decent selection of movies, shows, and games. Both legs of our flight had the old style monitor on the wall and TV monitors scattered through out the plane.
Well, I now know better, and will fly Asiana next time I go to Thailand.

Garuda. Checked in at Heathrow with two other friends. Got on the plane, the plane was empty but I was seated at the other end, away from my friends. When we stopped at Jakarta I got off to get some ciggs and when I tried to board again they told me that I had to wait for the next plane. I told that my hand luggage and stuff was on the other plane. The allowed me to get my hand luggage then made me wait for another hour for another plane.

Food was like dog food too. The only good thing was we could smoke down the back, along with the air hostesses.

Btw the way...I love Thai Airways.

Worst, Korea Air. I had a 14.5 hour flight from Toronto and they played two movies the whole time. One English and one Korean, but the tv's were so far away that I couldn't even read the subtitles, I could barely even see the picture clearly. The English movie they had severely censored out the funny parts and it was terrible. The FA's didn't control the people on the plane at all and it was like an f-ing zoo, especially during boarding and leaving the plane. I remember that they colour coded the boarding passes and as I was at the back of the plane, we were supposed to get on first. So, they called green (or whatever it was) and everybody just got up and pushed to get on the plane and they just took every colour anyways. So, there was no point to the system.

Best airline I have flown on, with all things considered, is hand down, EVA AIR. Modern aircraft, super friendly FA's, great food for a plane, great service while checking in, and they are really cheap. I much preferred my EVA flight to my Cathay Pacific flight.

Another airline that I actually thought was quite good was Czech Airlines.

American Airlines. We had to get to Seattle on short notice. Flew from Toronto to Dallas on a 737. Then flew from Dallas to Seattle on another 737. Not the most direct route. This was before 9/11 and the big nationals cutting back like mad. Even then it was serious cattle class. Here is a slice a bread and some processed cheese for your 5 hour flight.

And I can't believe back then I thought a flight from Toronto to Seattle, five hours, was a long time to be on a plane. Oi. If I only knew then...

Not sure which American carrier flies from Tokyo to New York, but they are some cheap pricks alright. Ask for a beer in cattle class and they were puzzled a bit at even the thought of it, and then told me it would be $5. What the *beep*. Koreans are a likeable bunch mostly with the right mindset. I will fly one of their airlines when heading back to the states.

I can't decide-Air Canada or the airline I took to Thailand (maybe Korean but I'm not sure).

Air Canada-I was flying in winter. The weather was bad. They cancelled our flight, which I understand if it is dangerous to take off, fly or land. However, they seems to be totally unprepared for weather-related flight cancellations...in winter...in Canada...Air Canada!? They gave us no guidance other than "get off and wait a bit". Being a novice traveller, I followed their advice. I didn't get where I was going for another two days. I swore I'd never fly Air Canada again. Of course, then Canadian went under.... Mad

Wait, I think Air Canada wins. On the Thai flight the only problem was that the headphones for my seat didn't work, so I couldn't watch any of the movies. And they didn't do anything. I expect businesses to try to make up for that...ya know, here's an extra muffin, at least.

Now the worst airport- los angeles, hands down. That place is a zoo. I've unfortunately flown through there twice, the second time, my luggage didn't arrive in Korea until a day after I did.

Air Canada

Hands down the worst customer service imaginable. The workers truly are miserable. It's amazing how consistently one comes across a grumpy disgruntled employee on one of their flights.

Korean Air attendants are incredibly friendly, helpful and professional in comparison.

Air Canada gets my vote for the worst airline. Northwest comes in a close 2nd worst.

Best Airlines?? I've had good luck with KAL, JAL, Asiana, and Alaskan. Business class on PAL was OK and a cheap upgrade. SILK Air was right up there too.

Worst? Knock on wood, I've been pretty lucky with my airline experiences in the last few years. The Asiana strike last summer wrought minor havoc with a trip to Singapore and the customer service person I spoke to wasn't too helpful; fortunately I'd booked through United, whose call center person sorted out the problem right away. I flew over here on United from San Francisco, too, and they were terrific. In the US their reputation isn't great but I've been happy with them. My other experiences with Asiana have been good, btw, although legroom could be more generous (I'm 6 foot 1).

Iberia, Qantas, and SkyEurope have annoyed me but not to the extent I'd never fly them again. Isolated incidents of stupidity are part of the human experience. I've had a couple of crappy flights with Northwest, too.

Best? In North America, Alaska Airlines, JetBlue, and Frontier are hard to beat. I've had several outstanding experiences with British Airways, Japan Airlines, and Malaysia Airlines.

I haven't had occasion to fly the highest-rated ones yet (Emirates, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Singapore Airlines) but hope that will change soon.

For airline reviews, check out Skytrax: www.airlinequality.com. I'm not affiliated with them or anything, but I think it's a cool site to browse.

Some budget airline in south africa, dingy 727s, open doors to the cockpit during takeoff, and hard turns coming into capetown.

Indian Airlines.

I took a short flight with them from Delhi to Kathmandu. I wanted to fly with Royal Nepal, but you are supposed to have a boarding pass to enter the airport terminal in Delhi (where the ticket counters are) and the Indian soldier on guard refused to let me go in just to buy a ticket unless I bought one from the Indian Airlines counter. So I was basically forced at gunpoint to fly with them. They took all my extra batteries and nail clippers with the promise that they would be returned upon arrival (I had only carry-on luggage), which of course never happened. Also, the food was absolutely unedible. I usually like airline food. But this was something entirely different. And everything else about the airline was just crap.
