How many of you have surveillance camera with audio in your staff room? One was just installed this week here at the hagwon. I wonder if this is typical. I wouldn't have noticed, if one of the Korean teachers hadn't advised me not to hang around in the staff room if I am on more than a 5 minute break between classes. |

Never happened to me, but I'd say it's time to declare the teachers room clothing optional, and brush up on your Pig Latin. |

In my school every classroom had a camera without audio. But not in the staff room.
I suspect your boss is trying to avoid too much chat in the staff room about his school's ways. He's spying. It's a pathetic way of doing it though. But what do you do...it's his school. |

Is there a big problem of loafing in the teacher room? Cameras in the classroom are okay, in my opinion.
They protect you the teacher as much. Someone had a great post about how a student's mother came in on a huge tear about how her little genius boy was doing poorly and it was the fault of the foreign teacher. They pulled out the tapes and showed her her lil genius was the class monster, running around, fighting, etc. |

In a panopticonic Korean high school there isn't much need for cameras either. The funny thing is that almost no one bothers to check what is actually going on. |

Doesn't matter anyway, I usually get the funk out of the building as fast as possible whenever I have a break, which is way often due to my split shift:teach->go home->teach->go home->teach->go home sort of schedule. I am pretty sure the camera is more closely related to clocking the domestic staff. |
