Are there clean up or construction jobs available? I'm pretty curious and I'd like to work outside for awhile. It seems like you can breeze in there and then quit when you get bored, unlike regular USA where you have to promise to be there for 20 years. It sounds like a good idea for "work" but for long term casual labor is a waste of time. Maybe I need a good white collar clean up job. |

There is always temporary work available on Bourbon street. Turnover is huge. Get there before Mardi Gras, which means, go there tomorrow. Festivities (used to) start a couple weeks before the holiday. If you don't have skills as a waiter or bartender, you'll still probably be able to get a job bartending in a strip club or whatever. I would imagine the casino jobs are the most competitive. |

right now the best jobs in new orleans are going to be in clean up and construction - and those jobs are very plentiful and the pay is very good. however, the difficult part will be finding somewhere to live. rent is very expensive right now and there aren't many hotels open. some companies are just putting up tent villages for their employees - which isn't so bad during the winter in new orleans - it rarely gets that cold. |
