I've noticed the hot Korean celebrities de jour tend to endorse almost any product under heaven. I think in particular of Mun Geun yeong, the rather thick eyebrowed, dangerously young actress that made a big splash in My Little Bride:
She's not that attractive but I think she's to early 30something Korean males what Winona Ryder (of her Mermaids/Reality Bites vintage) was to early 30something Western males. That kind of forbidden love. A girl who technically might be legal but you'd never chase her out of a sense of propriety but damn if she just fell into your lap. You'd be powerless, powerless I say, to say no to her quirky girlish youth. Etc.
Anyway, two hands back on the keyboard, she hawks KFC, cell phones, frozen foods... Yonsama is like another easy to recognize example.
I suspect the nature of Korean celebrity forces their hands. Most Korean starlets have zero career potential beyond age 28. The best they can do is being a hostess on home shopping or taking a role as "Cackling Ticket Booth Ajumma". So given little time, they have to sell their ass far and wide, bank as much as they can, and then marry an SNU prof. |

Bushy eyebrows, buck teeth and boz-eyed. |

Both of you seem to think that she's got thick, bushy eyebrows.
I don't think so.
Then again, maybe it's because mine are thicker and bushier ...

My two front teeth are at least as prominent as hers. Guess I look like a rabbit.

How's her eyesight? I need either thick glasses or contact lenses.

I guess Mun Geun-yeong and I were cloned from the same batch.
Looks like I was the first, failed version.

Great. Thanks a lot.
P.S. My gratitude goes out to you, too, Corporal.

Don't panic. As I've said before, there are two kinds of "she's not that attractive". There's the "against the backdrop of the wide world of the anatomically elite the Hollywood star machine and its ilk parade before our eyes" not that attractive and the "I'd not give up my seat on the bus for her" not that attractive. If I was Brad Pitt and could have my pick of women, she'd not be on my radar. Damn sure. If she worked at the desk next to me and gave me the slightest hint that I'd have a snowballs chance in hell with her, I'd be on her like a cop on donuts. And it wouldn't be pretty. Not in the least. |

err, okay, but *actually* I think it's proof positive that a man can post something denigrating a woman's looks and get high-fives or at the very least head noddings all round, whereas a woman making the same post or even agreeing to the post will get, as you say, pilloried for being a bitter jealous bitch who's probably not even half as hot as the woman whose looks are being questioned. |
