What's up with all the article posting with no opinion? If you want to, post the parts you think are valid, but you can also make them a link? Also, what's really up with only posting articles? This is a forum, what is your opinion, or atleast why are you posting that article? If it's just me, ignore this, but just posting an article in my opinion shows a total lack of imagination or opinion or the inability to discuss a subject using your own ideas. Not to mention it's boring and tedious. |

I do it sometimes because I already know what kind of response I will get. It's really no use arguing over things that we can never agree upon.
I think it's better to just let the article speak for itself.
If it bugs you, hell just skip to the next thread.

Yes, but why post it (especially when it's so long). It's annoying to scroll through all of that. And skipping to the next thread is not an option. If I am participating in it, I find it cluttered with stuff from people who won't just make a link out of it. |

I don't mind if people post excerpts from an article and don't comment, preferring to let the article speak for itself.
I do get irked when people flagrantly disregard the guideline that says that we shouldn't post an entire article if it is more than 300 words.
If it's a little more than 300 words, that's fine, but in another thread some guy posted an article, in its entirety, that was about 1,300 words! And then, in the same post, he added another! http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=51305 It's like they're saying, "Yeah! In your face!!"

11. Articles that are more than 300 words may be edited or deleted. Try to keep your comments concise. If an article is longer, post a link and quote only the really important parts to your argument. |

I make a concious effort not to post the entire article..... just a short section with a link. I guess you must be referring to someone else.
(although I have been guilty of that in the past, I have tried to tone down my posts in the last couple of years) |
