I got a pm recently asking me if I was bored with this site and directing me to another. Out of curiosity I checked it out. Wow! Someone out there really doesn't like Dave's moderated board or moderators. After reading a slew of what are undoubtedly his "freedom of expression" rants under a few pseudonyms I came to the conclusion this guy A) has no life and has way too much time on his hands B) Is a complete imbecile.
Unmoderated boards are packed full of juvenile vulgar messages. I don't want to waste my time sorting through this useless garbage. If I were a school advertising for teachers, I sure wouldn't want my company name up there with the garbage either. It just brings the whole thing down to a crummy level.
I remember a while back when Dave ran his social science experiment and decided to not moderate the board. It took about 2.5 seconds for it to be filled with vulgar ridiculousness. I thought someone had hacked the board! Even though things do get a little one-dimensional because there is a dearth of girl mods (can you change that Dave?) freedom of expression, like democracy, is for grownups.

And there is always the kicker to the whole sordid mess- these boards (here and at KoreanESL) are supposedly for and frequented by teachers- those mature, enlightened individuals whose profession is to impart pearls of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding wherever they go. There must be a lot of students out there who deserve our sympathy and condolences.

After having clicked on the link and having viewed some more messages from this troll guy I didn't see the first time, a very, very disturbing picture of him is emerging. An obssessive/compulsive/narcissistic/angry individual that I would be most concerned about being near minors. I doubt that he can form successful relationships with adults. It would be interesting to see what's on his hard drive.
Personally I think it would be a very good move to identify this individual and notify the appropriate agency in his area. He will not magically "get better", he will get worse. His behaviour is a scream for help. So help him.

It has been my experience that inter-board wars are a bad idea.
