I just got back from Bangkok and I bought SW Battlefront 2
for the outrageous price of about $2.00. However, I don't
know how to install it.

It came in DVD-R format. The intructions are in Thai. It says
something about using "Daemon" tools, mounting etc.

I think a lot of these copied games are installed in the same way.

Any help would be peachy.

I tried installing my downloaded and DVD-R burned copy of Battlefront 2 myself. No luck.

After a bit of net research I found out that it's one of the newer games that can't be simply cracked. You need to download a little program that hides your CD/DVD drives from the game files. It's called anti-blah or something. You can check it out for yourself at http://www.gamecopyworld.com/

I have a legit store bought version and it wouldn't run as long as I had anyDVD installed on the machine. Removed, it and it worked fine. Couldn't find a hack or a work-around on the internet, the only way to fix it was to remove the offending software (anyDVD is a well-know copy protection/region stripper, so if you have similar s/w it could interfere, and I'm not surprised to hear that VCD Daemon doesn't work on it either).

EDIT: Hang on- Cohiba, did you try installing Daemon tools and mounting the image?

hack cough [phlegm spume]1 X or 2? [sputter, projectile vomit] gurgle

Edit: cough cough, arggghhhggle, Anti-blaxx Version 1.18 of this program has just been released by MB-Lock. It enables you to go around the blacklist of various copy protection mechanisms such as SecuROM 4-7, SafeDisc 3-4, Protect CD V5 and JoWood X-Protect which force you to deinstall programs like Alcohol 120%, CloneCD, Blindwrite or Deamon tools cough cough.

I had problems getting this game to run, but there is an easy, easy way. Once he's got it mounted and installed, there is a no-dvd.exe file you can download from gamecopyworld.com that basically surpasses the copy-protection scheme used with this game. Piece of cake.

I never thought I would have to ask this question, but what
is "mounting"?

google "daemon tools". download, follow instructions, then follow thundar's advice.
Don't use anti-blaxx unless you're certain Deamon tools ins't working for the game, apparently anti-blaxx can cause major problems with Daemon tools, according to some (although anti-blaxx is just what the doctor ordered as a free substitue for anyDVD!)

Or, better yet, stop buying DVDs altogether and just download your games off the net (as back up copies for the games you already own, naturally).

To play CIV IV, I had to download and run SD4hide after I mounted the image on Daemon...

I need to have it running everytime I want to play it.

It helps if you have the services of Darth Maul. Try and kick ass right from the beginning to unlock Darth Maul. Otherwise, the rocket launcher packs a nice punch. Stand next to the robots near the back of the library ASAP.

Thanks I'll give it a shot (right after Finland kicks ass in the gold medal hockey game).
