Hi guys , I was wondering if you could give some advise to me.

I have come up to renewal time and while a verbal agreement was made between my director and myself at the 6 mth point that I would stay for a year longer , about 3 weeks ago after a somewhat heated disagreement...... nothing personal but just a major misunderstanding I informed that I wouldnt come back for my 2nd year......... Now I am 24 and single but looking to settle with someone soon ( as soon as I find them ). I would like to stay but I feel that if I leave it too much longer I wont be able to settle down ( I will basically be just floating through Life so to speak)

I really enjoy the kids and I enjoy teaching and the Hagwon is a brilliant place to teach , The director has been very very good to me. I would like to stay but I worried that things wont be the same as I have changed my mind twice already.

I do want to stay but I am getting a little tried of coming home to an empty house ( I live on my own and I am the only FT in the Hagwon).

24 is not too old to be floating in Korea for another year, so I wouldn't worry about that. Where else are you going to go? Do you actually have other job prospects, or are you just hoping to meet someone who will take care of you? Quitting a job is always a risky thing to do if you have nowhere to go, other than live with your parents while you try to get things going back home, only to leave again once you figure out that living in Korea is a lot cooler than working at Taco Bell in Iowa.

I am a qualified accountant, but I have no real job offers at the moment.

I am not looking for someone to take care of me ( I have lived away from my parents since 18 ) just someone to come home too.

OK, so I guess this is just a conflict between having an OK job and loneliness. If you had someone already, I would say go home and settle down if that's what you want more than anything. But if it's just the possibility that you could find someone to settle down with at home, that possibility will always be there, and it won't be any worse for you at 25 than it is at 24, so don't think that staying here one more year is going to totally screw up your life back home.

So I guess the thing is that you have to decide whether staying at a job which you enjoy and extending your overseas experience another year is worth putting off for one more year your attempt at what you feel you need to do to be happy for your future. Ultimately that's a question only you can answer.

I don't personally have experience with that, but I would guess that the boss would be glad to have you stay because it makes it a lot easier for her not to have to find (and pay for) another teacher to come here. I really don't know if she would hold it against you that you changed your mind, though. It really depends on her.

Just one chance to let you know...

You're only 6 months in your show.

Renewing at 6 months? You're only 24. They couldn't be paying you too much and you might think that what you've got is gold, but it's probably shiate.

*see CLASH thread

....you're 24 and worried about finding that someone or waiting too long to settle down...fear not...if you're young enough to not know the Clash perhaps you're not old enough to be married?....

...but seriously...I have been here since 2001, got married last year and have a little boy now...I am 31...all in good time -Tim! Tim! Timmy!!!
