my wife just showed me something she found on naver. she wants me to participate because for someone who has lived here for more than four years, my korean blows.
has anyone ever been to one of these? looks like it could be cool (drinking beer) or it could be lame (a bunch of strangers in their own little clique making me feel uncomfortable... like a chat room get together or an rpg group)
anyway... the wife wants me to give it a shot, but there doesn't seem to be any contact information on this page. any of you guys know anything about it?

That one's for reasonably high level speakers -- no other language except Korean allowed.

Yes. Been a time or two and will go back. But if your wife thinks your Korean blows it might not be the place for you. On the other hand, if your wife is just being harsh maybe it is just the place for you.

Seriously, last time I was there I was talking with a Chinese girl whose Korean was friggin' pefect and most others were pretty close to it.

no. "blows" was my own assessment of my korean language ability. maybe i could fit in if i pretended i was a retarded mute. *sigh*... i know there's a level i'll reach eventually at which point my learning will grow like a rolling snowball. but getting there is tough.

Don't count on it.

Take night school classes at Ehwa or Sogang -- for people who don't have deep interest in the language itself, the structure you get (assuming the teacher is okay) will be a good start. After that, it's really just time in.

I'm in that picture^^

PM me for more information about it.

The drinking session is conducted entirely in Korean with no other language allowed. It helps detract Koreans who want to learn English from coming.

It's not really a class - no teaching. Just drinking, talking and getting to know other people.

But it's only once a month, so don't count on that alone to greatly improve your Korean.

If I go, and I want to, I'll join you in the retarded mute corner.
