The good, the bad, the ugly...
Is there a big difference between Forza on the 360 vs. the old console, etc.? |

I dont have one but I do know that the orig. Xbox dvd drive firmware has been hacked enabling backups to boot with no mod.
This is important because the 360's drive is made by the same company and is basicly the same.
ADR (the famous hackers ) are working on somthing for the 360 right now.
My fingers are crossed. |

Well, I bought one on the NA release date. The launch titles weren't really all that exciting, but there are a few coming out in the next month or so that I'm really looking forward to. I have no idea what titles will be launching in Korea though. As far as the NA launch titles, the only two I picked up were Project Gotham 3 and Perfect Dark Zero (and I've since picked up DoA4). The sports titles looked amazing, but I'm not much on sports games any more. Some of the other titles were great visually (like CoD2 and King Kong) but were lacking in the multiplayer department, and I won't buy a game just for it's 10 hours of singleplayer gameplay (CoD2 has multiplayer, but everything I've heard about it has been pretty negative).
PG3 is just a flat out great racer. It really feels great to play. It's an arcade title like the other PG's though, so if you prefer simulations, you might not be satisfied with it's depth. In multiplayer, you can only race against 6 other people, and sometimes waiting for a race to get enough players to start is annoying. Actually, in all three games that I have, the multiplayer interface is really clunky and feels like it was thrown in at the last second with zero usability testing. Once you get a race started, it's solid though. My only complaints about it (other than the multiplayer interface) is the lack of depth in advancement. You can play on the easiest level for a night and get enough money for the best car. Also, in each rank, there are really only a couple of cars that can compete, so there's not much variety in what you'll be driving if you want to stand a chance against other players.
For an idea of how it looks, someone took a few pics while on vacation, and then took the cooresponding in-game screenshot:
I've been enjoying PDZ as it has some solid multiplayer fps action, but I could complain about the game for a while though. As fps's go, it's the best of what's there currently. The multiplayer gameplay is great (other than the lack of jumping, which drives me insane), but it can be harsh for a beginner since it takes a ton of shots to kill someone ... unless you've got a good enough aim to plink them directly in the face hehe. Also, the number of boards in multiplayer are prety limited, and i was screaming for them to hurry up and release some dedicated multiplayer levels after one night of hard playing. The singleplayer game is just plain boring.
Here's a site that has video walkthroughs of the single player game on its hardest setting. The guy makes it look easy, but don't be fooled hehe. At that level, if you don't pretty much oneshot every enemy, they'll oneshot you. http://pdzvideowalkthroughs.blogspot.com/
DOA4 was pretty much a dissapointment. The singleplayer is very annoying, which would be ok if the multiplayer really pulled it out (who gets fighting games to play the computer anyway?), but ugh, it just doesn't. It's very buggy, requiring frequent restarts due to freezing between matches, lots of lag locks between matches (literally minutes), and if you get in a game with more than a couple of people, you end up just watching 90% of the time, since everyone just watches while the two people that are up fight. WTB tekken port please!
I'm looking forward to Ghost Recon, Oblivion, and MotoGP though. Here's a really nice dev narrated vid of oblivion:

There's a photomode that you can go into and take screenshots from. I've never bothered to use it myself, but I think the idea is that you run a race and can then watch the replay with full control that lets you pause it whereever you want and change view, pan around the car etc. You can also design your own race paths through the various cities. I think the person who took the screenshots just built races that took him past the points he wanted shots of, then used the replay and photo mode to get the shots he wanted. From what I understand, the entirity of the playable areas are built to be as identical to the real areas as possible. It's hard to actually appreciate how good the game looks when you're playing it. The first time I watched a friend play it, I was even more impressed since I had more time to just look at the graphics.
Oh, one other complaint about the multiplayer though. You can't have two people playing online from the same console. If a friend comes over, you either only race each other or you take turns racing online. The lack of this feature was a big letdown that I can only imagine was the result of a rushed launch |

absolutly worth it imo. I don't usually get much out of single player games. You play through them once or twice and that's it. When you can play online against other people though, it ups the potential playtime that I can squeeze out of a game many many times. my xbox live name is also splok, but I'm stuck on a dialup atm so I won't be playing until next month >< |

I haven't used my 360 much in the past couple of months (been busy with other stuff and grooving on lots of DS games), but that's about to change.
I've got Burnout Revenge coming in the mail right now, and am about to order TESIV: Oblivion. Plus, Battlefield 2 comes out next month. If you've not had a look at BF2, check out this video.
Play-Asia is turning out to be the expat gamer's best friend. They've got a nice compatibility list on their site and sell the Asia-region games (all in English and available with free shipping!) for $40 each.
I got my 360 at the Japanese launch and have only grabbed a couple games so far. I've got Ridge Racer 6 and Perfect Dark Zero, both of which are okay. PDZ is decent online, so long as you get a match where people try to work together. I don't like mindless deathmatches, but have had some nice games of PDZ. I've borrowed a few other games from friends (PGR3, Condemned and Call of Duty 2) and beat the latter two of those. Condemned is a great experience, but really only good for two playthroughs. CoD2 was nice as well. PGR3 is one I'll end up getting, but I don't want to overdose on racing games.
If anybody here is on Live, add me to your list if you want. My gamertag is "Wheres Drew". |

Demo Time!
The demo for Battlefield 2: Modern Combat came out yesterday and the one for Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter is supposed to be up today.
The BF2 one is multi-player only, but gives a great taste of the game. Not sure what's coming in the GRAW demo, but I'm looking forward to it as well. (I've ordered the full version of GRAW, but haven't gotten it yet, so the demo will help get me in the mood. ) |

GRAW has been getting panned on the gaming sites. Too bad. The trailer was nifty.
On the other hand, I just finished Timesplitters FP and it was funtastibulous! And the multiplayer is a hoot n' a holler. |

Panned by which sites? GameRankings has it at 91.2% overall. |

Gamespot gave it an unimpressive 5.2 for the Xbox, but an excellent 9.1 for the 360!! My bad! |

No prob.
I downloaded the Xbox version, but have only played a little bit of it so far. I don't know that I'd rate it that low, but I've also not really played the others in the series, so I probably have different expectations from the reviewers.
I mostly downloaded it (and BF2) so I could compare the Xbox and 360 versions on my setup. I'm curious to see just how big the generation leap is. |
