Take comfort in the fact that some of the people who deserve to be eaten actually are.

I had a room-mate in uni who went tree planting in the summers.
He told about the time he accidentally left his bag lunch in his tent one morning.
He came back at the end of the day- no tent.

That's funny.

Loved watching the suit being tested by swinging logs into it...WHAM!

This movie's main theme?

'There's nothing new under the sun.'

Men and beaste have been clashing like this for years in South Africa, one guy even claiming to be able to walk up to lions.

He got eaten.

Thanks guys for the post about Grizzly Man. Just got finished viewing it and though i have mixed feelings, still think it is an important document about a human life. Herzog raises some important questions as always --- I won't go into the debate, just want to say it is healthy.

My one ? is how different a Treadwell did we see because of the camera? Amazing how a camera transforms people, does it show reality? ??? I guess I am suggesting their might be some sort of Heisenbergian principal that governs documentaries, especiallly those made in such a self "ish" fashion.

Reminded me also of the true story of a teenager from mid-America. He decided to go to Alaska and live "wild". Ended up starving to death , alone, in an abandoned bus. Nothing glamourous. I think this was made into a film????? Does anyone know the name?

This is, quite possibly, the best thing I've ever seen. And I've seen my wife naked.

Herzog's narration: solid gold. Ample sampling fodder.

If I had the time and the resources, I'd be all in on a parody: Mosquito Man, a documentary about the life of Jimmy Jerkwell, a high school dropout who spent 13 summers on the outskirts of a KOA campground.

Not a movie, its a book by author Jon Krakauer - "INTO THE WILD". Great book.

I just watched Grizzly Man.. the first part felt tiring and long.. self-absorbing. But by the end of it, I really enjoyed it.. the last 20 minutes or so where friends talk about the film one year later was really good.

I also wished they had said more about his life prior to going to Alaska. There was a little said, but I wanted more.

Who's the hottie in that first picture with him? Man if that guy wasn't gay...I mean come on. Either that or he was into rough sex with large beasts.

It's been done, some dude on discovery channel who had never seen a shark gave himself a week to build up from a first encounter with small non man eaters to eventually swimming with great whites outside of a cage. He did it too and survived.

He did a lot of self-confessionals on tape.. one where he wished he was gay so he could get laid a lot easier. He more or less cursed his own heterosexuality.

As to the hottie on tape.. that was his girlfriend who spent a couple seasons up there with him.. she died by the same bear that got him. They found the remains of both of them in a bear's stomach. Eaten alive.

Exactly. I think I would have prefered to remain an anonymous junkie than document the fact that I've discovered the most outrageous way to die.
