I have read several posts indicating that some members here have extensive martial arts training. Can anyone point me toward a school in Korea that teaches Jeet Kune Do (I know this is unlikely)? If not, can anyone suggest instructors (with thier disciplines) that are into developing well rounded students (technique, history, mental aspects, inner balance...etc, etc) and aren't primarilly focused on making a buck. In particular, any instructors with a very heavy emphasis on sparring and live practice with a partner are preffered. Thanks for the help!!

I train with the Korean National Uni of Physical Ed. (Hanguk Cheyuk Taehakkyo). It's considered the best martial arts dojang in the country, and can (and does as you'd expect in Korea ) boast gold medallists from Syd 2000 and all manner of other world champs.
It's not the type of place you can just walk into though, I got invited through another master, and so I train for free (also because I'm an instructor back home, I s'pose they want international contacts), but I know another guy there who pays US$200 a month! Ouch...
The guys training there make it their whole lives, so the skill level is amazing, and I know a few who have an interest in Jeet Kune Do, but whether they actually train with a master or have just read the infamous "Tao of Jeet Kune Do" is another matter. |
