hah...i'd think bibimbap (although some places probably give more than 1 serving of rice in the bottom), kimbap (sans mayo), maybe chegae (however it's spelled) although the chamchi chegae is rather oily

mandu soups probably aren't too bad either

Except that they always, always have ham in them. Even the "yah-chae" (vegetable) and "seleduh" (salad) kimbap has ham in it. Why is it so popular that it's ubiquitous? As another poster said in a previous thread ...

pork.
pork.
pork.
pork.

and more pork.

seriously, why would anyone eat that crap? it smells like a dead man's jockstrap when it's cooked.

Usually, I just eat some kind of soup like κ, , , Ұ, ġ , etc. Our hagwon has an impressive cook that whips up unbelievable lunches every day, but I'm usually too busy to eat during the time she has food, so I'll order in. All of the food I listed is delivered, with prerequisite rice and side dishes, for under 5,000 won. The only exception is , which is a bit more. I believe this type of lunch is healthy, or at least healthier than a sandwich or something. Btw, I order it all from a kimbap place. I used to think those places only served kimbap.

Who has mayo with kimbap? I've never seen that. Could be good.. But who does that?

If you get chamchee kim bap they mix the tuna with mayo. That could be what they mean.

Yep. In the salad kim-bap, too. I think a couple of others as well. Even some of the pizza places mix it with sweet potatoes(eww!).

OP, I'd have to go with you on the bibimbap...dohl-soht, with a nice egg slopped on top.

A lot of the jjih-gaes with some fish on the side would be good. Dwae-jee gook-bap is good and hearty. Bi-bim man-doo(although a bit greasy) is sth I'm addicted to and has lots of veggies with it.

I love bibimbap too, and but with the egg, beef, and veggies fried in sesame oil it's actually very high in calories. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000 calories per serving, I think.

For healthy Korean food I'd go for hoe deop bap/ȸ, dwenjang jjigae/, or baekban/.

well push the yolk over to the side and order without meat (most places i've been don't use beef anyway)...

and i also thought they just put the oil on the bottom to lubricate the rice, and just placed the veggies on top...no?

and as for the ham sticks...say no to those too like a previous poster said...nasty ass things

Fish, soup, rice, and a bunch of side dishes. AKA "side dish buffet". Most traditional style Korean restaurants have it, and it's always a little different everywhere you go, every day.

As for the calories in bibimbap, a quick Google seach tells me that it's more like 750-800 calories, but that's still not exactly a light lunch. I love the stuff, too, though.

I can't understand why you can't bring your own lunch, instead of buying it. It will be lots cheaper (maybe, but it will be healthy..)

You can make a salad, throw in 1/2 a can of tuna (if you want to), take along a hard boiled egg (if you feel like it), and you have a healthy lunch.

I do understand that some people like to order, or go out to eat, but you can still bring food at times.

Apples around my way are not cheap, but at least you know what it is. Banana's are not expensive, and they are filling.

I know this poster asked what can be ordered, I am just saying if you bring your meals, you can make them as healthy as you want.

That's okay... After viewing your avatar twice in the same thread, I've decided to skip lunch, thanks. Sad

Yeah, I heard it's supposed to be quite healthy, too. However, it smells like crap...literally. Eat in a well-ventilated area.
