Yes, but not as far as it would require force to do so |

In the Mideast, the Third Way Is a Myth
Quote: |
The reality shown by Hamas's victory in the Palestinian elections is this: If fully free elections were held today in the rest of the Arab world, Islamist parties would win in most states. Even with intensive international efforts to support "civil society" and nongovernmental organizations, elections in five years would probably yield the same results. The notion, popular in Washington over the past few years, that American programs and efforts can help build a third alternative to both current governments and Islamists is simply a delusion. |
The next neo-con sacred cow I want to challenge is this: that democracies do not make war except with totalitarianisms. This is a pre-emption on my part against the oft-heard defense of the quest for democracy. Democratic Athens was first and foremost imperialist, and Sparta only challenged it after Athens had built an empire through the once defensive Delian League. The United States declared war on Mexico in 1846 under dubious circumstances. I do believe that Israel is a democracy, and has had its share of at least ambiguously aggressive wars. And who here would like to suggest that a Middle East democracy would shy away from conflict from Israel?
Natan Sharansky's influence on American public policy has been far too expansive, and are ultimately based on political theories that are heavily flawed. |

Think about it....
Make them democratic, and let them decide as one to be an enemy of the USA. That makes the ever-increasingly PC western crowd almost have to accept that the radical ideologies at work are wanted by more than just a few Muslim brothers. Put a terrorist label on freely-elected government, and the US can more easily attack/destroy that group. |

For a people who have never known, tasted nor understood the meaning of liberty, democracy is worthless.
For a people enjoying the fruits of pure liberty, democracy is useless. |
