A friend of mine who visits Korea on business frequently wants to open a Korean bank account so he can keep some money here to use during his trips. He doesn't have an immigration card. Does anyone know which bank he can go to open a won accoun with a US passport? |

I would guess that most, if not all, would allow it. I've made different accounts at different times, and they all allowed me the choice of my ARC card or my passport. |

KB Bank also will allow you to open an account with just a passport. |

Just a passport = no visa that would give you a reason to be earning money and making deposits? Just checking... |

OiGirl - No that's not the reason. My friend comes here frequently on business trips. Since he rarely stays more than few weeks, he hasn't gone through the hassel of getting an ARC. While he charges most expenses to his company, I think he would like to keep some money here so he doesn't have to carry it back and forth. [/quote] |

I have to ask...why? Why would he leave money here when he can use a credit card to pay for anything? Cash in the pocket is better than anywhere unless it's big money and you don't seem to be saying that...so I ask "why bother?". |
