No regular lessons since 28 December, though nothing much happened after final examinations, which were in mid-December.

No productive lessons since mid-January when winter break lessons / 'camp' ended.

Four half-days of teaching in February that were a complete farce.

So, basically two-and-a-half months of not being in the regular swing of things, apart from some winter 'camp' lessons that went well.

To be quite honest, I can't wait for winter break to be over so that I can actually start teaching again. Two weeks in Thailand and some time to meet up with old friends is great, and I know I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but I can't wait for it to be 2 March. Anyone else feeling this way?

nope,
If I could have more vacation I would. I just spent the last 10 weeks studying Korean and could use some downtime before teaching begins.

I have had the last 6 weeks off, and while I've been doing some things of a constructive nature (going to the gym and working on my MA) I am ready to go back to work. Work is great for a bit of structure during the week...well for the 4 days a week that I work anyway.... Laughing

i'm with you 100%. you wouldn't believe how desolate this campus is during the off season. i have an apartment on campus, on the fifth floor of a pretty big building out in the middle of nowhere. my wife, my self, and the old guy next door are the only three people inhabiting this building. i'm really looking forward to next week, when there will be some life around this place. also, i miss the teaching too.

Schwa raises his hand.

When my boss told me monday I wouldnt be starting again till the 13th my first response was disappointment. I had a nice away vacation & I'm feeling refreshed & I get a positive kick out of teaching.

2 & a half more weeks of idle hobbying. Life's tough.

I'd miss teaching too if it meant I wasn't making money. These forced vacations must be hard on the wallet.

Still get paid a minimum of 2.2 / month. No problems there.

No I don't.. I'm currently quite bitter as my school is following my contract to the fine print, so they require me to come to the school and sit in the office for 8hours everyday. Rather frustrating to say the least...

------ Clueless noob alert!! -------

What vacation are youz guyz talking about? I assume it's public school. Is it standard for public school teachers to have ~2 months non-teaching time?

If that's true, I might think about working for a public instead of hagwon. Even if I had to sit in the office all day, that would at least give me 8 extra hours to learn Korean. That would be awesome.

Please tell. Is this normal?

Q.
