Ok. Let's get real.

It's not as if you were all playing for Team Canada. They had some tough opponents.

I say that they did well for what they had. From the other countrie's rosters, I think they were lucky to play the Russians in the medal round.

This is from a Canadian.

All the other countries know how good Canada is in hockey and this doesn't change.

The Olympics is BS. It should go back to amateur. It's all hockey.

No, it was the loonie in the ice.

Let's not make excuses: arrogance was a big part of the Team Canada downfall.

The only country that can't make fun of us is NZ based on their RWC performance.

I agree 100% on the amateur comment.
And that goes double for basketball.

But why on earth would you put a thread like this in the General Discussion forum?

You're kidding right?

Yes, other countries know how good our team was supposed to be.. They did not do well... getting shut out THREE TIMES? to Switzerland? They were the biggest disappointment of the Olympics hands down.

Well, it does look pretty bad when you have a combined income on this team of $100 million U$ and they can't even put the puck in the net. Pat Quinn, Gretzky and everyone else kept repeating that they weren't playing as a team. Well, what do you expect when you throw a bunch of prime donna's together with little or no prep time as a team.

Should this not be in the "Off-topic" forum?

Why put it here?

Shouldn't the title of his thread be "Creamed Canada?"

Indeed it should.

It's a very embarassing time for Canadian Hockey.. no excuses from (apparent) know-it-alls like jacl can hide that fact..

woulda, shoulda been in the final at the very least... couldn't even get out of the quarters, and couldn't score a goal in 3 games..

huge disappointment.

Well, the team itself had some questionable picks. In my opinion, Draper and Doan were not the best Canadian players on the long list; Crosby should have been in Turin, Phaneuf as well, Jason Spezza is also talented. Their team was old, as were many other teams, but a younger team may have been able to outpace their opponents. It seems to me that Gretzky picked almost the same players he picked last time, and the time before that. Sure, they may have worked then, but they're getting older. He should have picked skilled players, not ones who he goes clubbing with.

Canada played terribly. It wasn't one or two players. It was the whole team. Except for broduer and luongo who played well. The only player I wouldn't have sent from the outset was bertuzzi. The guy is an idiot. He takes so many stupid penalties. Especially while on the power play.
Guys like Iginla and Sakic, could have played much better. They didn't come together as a team.
I think Draper played fairly well. He was really good on the penalty killing.
You need to have some defensive forwards. You can't have a team of composed of only goal scorers.

who will be the coach for the next olympics?

I think Sutter might be a good one. He's tough on teamwork and everyone doing their best. Cause those two things were sorely lacking on the Canadian team.

When all's said and done, we have the two best teams in the final: Sweden and Finland.

After joining the Leafs in the summer of 2006, Ted Nolan will have three successful seasons and become the Olympic coach.

be realistic. Also who cares about toronto. It isn't the centre of the universe. Sutter has done a great job in Calgary. I think that the effort that he demands of his players would be a benefit to team Canada.
