I love the Olympics. I will sit religiously for hours watching the different sports.

In the summer.

As far as the winter games go, I really dont care much. Apart from a few events like hockey, skiing, speed skating and ski jumping, I havent watched much this time around. Luge? Bobsled? Skeleton? Figure Skating? Curling? Sorry, I really dont care.

I was watching CNN and they posed the question: How can the IOC make the winter olympics more interesting? Well, I really dont think they can. The Winter games will always be the little stepchild of the Summer Games.

Thanks for starting a thread just to tell us how much you don't care.
That's special.
I'm enjoying watching the olympics.
And I don't care that you don't care about them.
I guess that makes us both special.

I think the Winter games are much better than the summer.

Olympic Hockey is more exciting than Olympic Soccer or Baseball, speedskating is more exciting than track events, cross country is better than long distance running, curling is more interesting than ping pong or archery, figure skating is superior to field events, freestyle arials and snowboarding are preferred to gymnastics (god, I hate gymnastics), luge and skeleton is just crazy. Those guys are nuts. Not enough danger in Summer games. That's just all my opinion though.

I would like to be in a country that wasn't still showing speedskating events from last week. 3 times a day.

Parts of the opening ceremonies were gorgeous and absolutely set the right tone for the spirit of the Olympics. Plus my country has won 20 medals so far and is becoming an Olympic power (pronounced pow-ah!) and a lot of new heroes/heroines, and the Swedish dude's performance in the cross-country skiing? Awesome. These winter Olympics are the most exciting in a while. Not since the Ghanaian swimmer who showed up alone at the Olympic swim (all the other swimmers were busted for doping) and frog-swam his way to the slowest swimming record to win a gold, or the Jamaican bobsled team have I enjoyed myself so much watching it.

Woah woah woah- you mean the Equatorial Guinea swimmer who won a heat because the other two guys jumped the gun.

Yes.

Even though my country only really has a chance at Curling, which doesn't count, it's still great to watch.

Winter Olympic sports are just as exciting to watch and require just as much athleticism and skill. Except Curling, obviously.

Privateer,

Not that I think curling is an exciting sport or anything however it takes a great deal of skill.

As a canadian curling was part of my physical education curriculum in high school, I continued to participate in the game for about four years or so.

Although its more of a social game (most curlers use it as an excuse to get out with buddies and drink alot of booze, alot!) there is an exercise component also. Try sweeping for about an hour and a half and he will work up a good sweat.

If you haven't tried it you should, its actually a fun game

Curling is a lot like golf. Boring as hell to watch, but difficult beyond belief. They're also both great drinking games.

I think the winter olympics are great.
I don't really care about jinju's interests, that's for sure.
